Daniel Challenge day one

The “Daniel Challenge” Day One
In Chapter one of the book of Daniel, the positive effects of eating vegetables and drinking water are compelling. By the end of the ten days Daniel and his three men appeared better and fatter in the flesh then all the young men who ate the portion of the king’s delicacies and drank the king’s wine.  As for these four young men, God also gave them knowledge, skill in literature and wisdom; and Daniel had understanding is all visions and dreams.  After studying this chapter you will most likely be inspired to eat healthier.

For the Daniel Challenge:

1.    Eat two to three servings of fruit everyday.
2.    Eat five to seven servings of vegetables everyday.
3.    Drink water as your main beverage.
4.    Read a chapter of Daniel each day. (12 chapters)
5.    Email our small group daily or post on the blog your insights.

This “Daniel challenge” is not exactly the way Daniel and his men ate.  I am having us concentrate on consuming these portions of fruit, veggies and drink because I believe in establishing sustainable lifestyle choices and not fad diets.  When we concentrate on what to eat we will be successful.

Daniel 1:20 “And in all matters of wisdom and understanding about which the king examined them, he found them ten times better than all the magicians and astrologers who were in all his realm.

Be fit and be blessed,

  1. No problem with 12 days. The kids and I read Daniel 1 this evening. I asked them what they thought. One of my son's said that we should only eat "bad" food - meaning vegetables. Isn't it interesting that what is good has become known as bad. It is just like man to flip things around. One of my daughters thought it was interesting that the version we were reading (NASB) used the word fat to describe the men after the 10 days. In our eyes that could be considered negative. Well that led to a discussion on the chief counselors concern that the men would appear haggard, but instead they appeared fat. Since I associate haggard with the appearance of the face, I explained to the kids that our faces lots of times show how we are feeling on the inside. So a fat face would show more health than a haggard face. I'm not sure how my face appears to others but I have noticed that the skin on my face feels healthier when I'm eating my vegetables. It was a good discussion and I look forward to Daniel 2.
