Romans 8:28-30


“ And we know all things works for the good of those who love Him, who have been called according to His purpose.  29 For those God foreknew He predestined to be conformed to the likeness of HIs Son, that He might be firstborn among many brothers.  30  And those He predestined , He also called; those He called, He also justified, those He justified He also glorified.”

Romans 8:28 used to be one of my favorites verses before we lost of Lovely Erin , hear on Earth.  At that point, I was simply angry and thought, “Nothing! Nothing! Can possibly be as good as our Lovely Erin.   But as these years unfold, I see recovery in Jesus.   My anger has turned  into  deep sadness and disappointment for us here on Earth, but I still have hope because I know she is glorified, as Romans 8:30 points out.

When our Grandma Muzzy got Cancer it seemed so unfair.  Our family was not expecting Grandpa to outlive Grandma.  Grandpa was the alcoholic and Grandma was the Saint.  God used Grandma’a cancer to truly heal our family.    I estimate 80% of her family have now become born again believers.  When we see her again, in Heaven, it will be as if no time has passed.  (Heaven is not confined by time)

I hate that we suffer here on Earth.  It helps me to remember Romans 8:29 ..” To be conformed to the likeness of His Son.”

Healthy and well is not about smiling through everyday as though nothing is wrong, healthy and well in Jesus is trusting no matter what is wrong….God’s got this!!!


Don’t tell God you’ve got a big problem, Tell your problem you’ve got a BIG GOD!!!

Be thankful ad bless His Holy Name!!

Thanksgiving is one of the strongest weapons we have against the enemy. Today I hope these verses inspire you to Thank God for what his right and thank Him for making what is wrong, work out for His glory. Many times, I don't like what is going on. When I choose to walk in thanksgiving, I can walk in faith not fear. Walking in faith is essential for Christ centered health and wellness.

 Fit Bit (Conquer the weather)


This Summer I did a lot of paddle boarding.   I really enjoyed what I call, “ paddling with a purpose.”   I bought a racing board and became determined to do a race called “ Chatta Jacks” which is a 31 mile race in Chattanooga, TN scheduled for Oct. 24, 2020.  Then, I was going to do The “Carolina Cup” in early November.  Starting in September we got much colder temperatures and I lost my desire to train on the board.  I lost my motivation because the “Chatta Jacks” went Virtual and I just didn’t “ feel it”.   WOW! Last weekend the virtual race was finished and I did not enter.   I feel a let down.  I did train very hard this Summer, just to give in too; “not feeling it”.


I have found that many people are will ing to validate my, give up. Success in life is to keep on keeping on regardless of how we feel.   (Philippians 4:13 “ I can do all things through Christ who gives me strength”). Many times our goals in life are hard.   When we keep on keeping on in the direction we know God is calling us , no matter how many times we slip and fail that produces character, perseverance and humility.  We all want to give up sometimes.  


Today, as I look out on the freshly fallen snow, I am quite confident I will not be paddling.  But I will be “Fat Biking” and walking my dog.  Today, I chose to embrace the change in weather and continue my goals of staying physically, spiritually and emotionally fit.  For me, I can more easily reach that goal, by making sure I read my Bible daily, pray and get out side regardless of the weather.

Fit Bit ( Willful sins?)


This Spring, I got caught up in a desire to “willful sin”.  I thought as a mature Christian woman I was beyond that.   Since then I have heard a couple sermons on when you think you are not capable of a particular sin, you are.   That is when my pride gets big, when I think I’m above a certain behavior.   I have been a fitness person, for a long time.   I really love to eat a healthy diet and get great exercise.  When I am prideful;  I can think, I would never…..but when I do, before I know it I am doing what I thought I would never. 


Psalm 19:13 Keep your servant also from willful sins; may they not rule over me.  Then will I be blameless, innocent of great transgression.”


Willful sins start with intentionally deciding to compromise this or that.   Too much walking in the wrong direction leads to great transgressions.

Gluttony and slothfulness are sinful,  willful sins can be so very many things.   Today be inspired to think and do what the Bible tells too.  I find that when I focus on the Lord in my daily life.  I get disciple in the little sins.   This helps me from boldly going in the wrong direction.   So, if you are getting a disciple, try to remember that is God’s way of keeping you from great transgressions.  Instead of thinking on what you don’t want to do…think on what you do want to do…. Think upon the Lord.


Psalm 19;14. “May the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be pleasing, in your sight, O Lord, my Rock and my redeemer.”

 Fit Bit (Hole in your heart?)


Do you have a hole in your heart?  Are you searching for meaning?  Are you always trying to find something or someone that fulfills you?


JESUS!


He is the only one that can fill a deep longing for better.


I have called myself a Christian for many years.  Yet, over these years, I have felt a hole in my heart.  I have tried to fill that hole, with other things like alcohol, relationships, exercise and food.  What I have learned is, when I try to fill myself with anything aside from JESUS the satisfaction is only temporary.   When I draw near to God, He draws near to me, filling me with His Holy Spirit, that I may firmly TRUST JESUS as my Lord and Savior.  With this foundation, His streams of living water flow through and from me.  This way I am not only full, but overflowing, which is a wonderful way to live.


James 4:8. “Come near to God, and He will come near to you.”


John 4:14. “ but whoever drinks the water I give them will never thrust.  Indeed the water I give them will become in them a spring of water welling up to eternal life.”


Thins that are good for us like, exercise and healthy relationships are wonderful, but let’s be careful that we  are being filled with God and His Word, for our true fulfillment.

Fit Bit (Into the light!!)


COLOSSIANS 3:13 “WHO HATH DELIVERED US FROM THE POWER OF DARKNESS, AND HATH DELIVERED US INTO THE KINGDOM OF HIS DEAR SON;


Into the light and out of the darkness!!!!   When I think of being healthy and fit I think of it as walking in the light of our Dear Lord.  My poor wellness behavior is often done in secret, or at least something I don’t advertise about myself.  If I take and extra bowl of ice cream, or think judgmental thoughts toward others or decide to just not clean or do the yard work. Those are all examples of how I am not using my life to do my best for our Lord.   Many people today, encourage each other to just….NOT.  I think that is so wrong.  We can encourage ourselves easily, to be lazy and NOT.  


    My nephew is a Police Officer and has great disciple for working out.  In the gym he surrounds himself with people to help him push.  In His career, he needs his fellow officers to encourage him to keep up the try.  In my career as a Fire Fighter, I needed my fellow comrades to help me stay on the top of my game.  In our Christian walk and in our quest to stay fit and strong, we need that too.  Today be inspired to encourage someone to walk in the light!!

John 16:33 ‘I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace.  In this world you will have trouble.  But take heart! I have overcome the world.”

Years ago, I could be seen by many as a successful athlete.  I say that because, at one point I was in the winners circle.  The truth is now, at 58 and two new knees and a variety of reasons why I’m not in the winners circle I know that I am still winning.  I am winning because I get to keep on keeping on.  I am winning because , I can do many many things that I like to do.  I mostly have energy and attitude to overcome my troubles and get it done.  At one point , when I fell out of the winners circle and people stopped encouraging me to push hard, It was easy for me to “ just not”. But what I have found is when I “just do”, it helps me get it done.  Recently my family was here at the lake,   My nephew, said, “ I’d go knee boarding, but I’m just not “feeling it”.  My response was, I’m really not “ feeling like water skiing either, but I know that when I do, I will be happy I did.  Isn’t that everything?  Often we don’t “feel it”.  Joyce Meyer said, “Feeling are fickle”, you go to bed feeling one way, eat chocolate and feel an other.  We can’t determine our day to day life by our feelings.  We have to go with the truth.  The truth is in this life we will have trouble, we won’t feel like getting things done. Yet, when we set our eyes and hearts on Jesus, WE can muster the energy to do what is set before us and do it well.  

Colossians 3:23 “Whatever you do, work it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for men.”

What does this have to do with fitness?  Everything.  Many times we may not feel like eating right,  moving more or being nice to people who we disagree with.  But I promise you, when we do all things, while seeing what’s right through CHIST, we overcome this world.

This is a quick Fit Bit, to remind you to be dependent on our Lord so you can truly be INDEPENDENT!!


Is it so easy to get caught up in the snares of this world,  drinking, promiscuity, lying, selfishness, indulgences….. You know your own bag of bones. 

Hebrews12 describes it as” the sin that so easily ensnares us.”

Sin is something that keep us from being our healthy self.  Problem is we all sin.  But we no longer have to be a slave to sin.  We can be independent of its hold on us.  Even as Christians we do still sin.  But we are over-comers through Jesus Christ.  Today, claim your victory, as you celebrate Americas independence, and your dependance on God so you can truly have freedom regardless of the state of our nation.

Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord, the people he chose for his inheritance.

Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us,

As I was reading Proverbs 16 today, I was reminded how important my thoughts and words are to my path.  

Proverbs 16:3. “ Commit to the Lord whatever you do, and your plans will succeed.”
What I realize is even if my plans don’t succeed  in Kimberly’s way, they still succeed for our Lord, when I put on my try for Him.   So many things I intend a certain way, turn out differently.  Yet, if I put Him in the center of my TRY I know that whatever the outcome, He’s got it.

Sometime, because so many things, do not go according to my plan it is easy to give up, and feel defeated. I see this in the fitness industry.  Many people start a fitness/. Wellness program with great enthusiasm and then fizzle out.  In fitness and in life, its not about doing something good for a bit, It’s a consistent effort in the right direction.  For me,  to “keep on keeping on”,  in the midst of difficult, I need to keep it up for our Lord.  I need to keep doing what’s right because I want to be a good steward of all that God has given me.  I want to be a good steward of every day, one moment at a time.  One way I do this is by being very careful with what I think and say.  My attitude and words towards food, moving , relationships, everything really does make or break my day.  Today.  I hope this little fit bit inspires you to take charge of what you think and say about your day, so you can be determined and not defeated.  In order to be good stewards all God has given us, we at least have to put on our TRY!!!  Speak and think life for Jesus!!

Today the Sidewalk Profits song “Smile” is running through my head.  Its funny, I have a number of things troubling my heart, but still this song is so very loud in me today.  I am thankful for that.   For me, in order to be healthy and have the energy to do the things I need to do, and be the woman I want to be, I have to start my day in the Joy of the Lord.  Its’ a choice.  It’s a choice like choosing to eat fruits, veggies and get movement.  I can be defeated, or keep on keeping on in Joy.   I chose to live life without drugs or alcohol, mainly because I fell down with them and almost completely destroyed my family.  Recently a new friend of mine asked me, “ Don’t you just sometimes, want to catch a buzz?”   My response is simple, “:I live in a buzz”.  I have the joy of the Lord, as my daily buzz.  It’s pretty amazing , to feel HIs joy even in sorrow.  I hope this little Fit Bit inspires you to let His Holy Spirit fill your heart so you can trust Jesus as your Lord and Savior and feel HIs joy!!!   This is truly the only way I know to be healthy in all circumstances.

When we look at what helps a person be truly well, it’s not just one behavior but many  that go into a well rounded person.  In Faith Centered Fitness, I teach well rounded is first grounded in Jesus.   
Mathew 6:33 “ Seek ye first the kingdom of God and His righteousness and all things things will be added unto you.”
In our current “SHUT DOWN” many people are not able to work.  This is messing with peoples value.  We take pride in the things we accomplish and that helps us keep accomplishing.   We are not called to just hang out, and watch the screen.  We are called to Love and love is a verb!  We show love to each other by how we treat each other,  what we DO for each other.  We are either actively kind and giving or we are actively not available and distant.  It take WORK to show love.  In this shut down, you may or may not be working at your regular job, but you are still called to be the man or woman God created you to be.  So today, be inspired to actively go and do for others as you would have them do unto you.  Our value is who we are in Jesus not our works, but our work helps us.
We work because it is the “right” thing to do.  We are not saved by our works, we are saved by GRACE, the finished work of Jesus Christ on the cross for us.  When we work, we are being good stewards of what God has given us, and that just feels good!!!  It’s our way to say , “Thank you God, for all you have given me.” SO today, to help you be the healthiest person, you can be, first be grounded in Jesus and then take that strength in Him, and do good works.  I promise you, It will help you feel healthy and well!!
Matthew 22:37 Jesus replied: “‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’[c] 38 This is the first and greatest commandment. 39 And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself. 40 All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments.”

Isaiah 40:28-29. “Do you not know?  Have you not heard?  The Lord is the everlasting God, the Creator of the ends of the earth.  He will not grow tired or weary and His understanding no one can fathom.  29. He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak.”

Do you ever wish someone could truly understand you?  Jesus does!!
Do you ever feel weak and weary and need strength? Jesus gives!!

When I read these verses today, I was so comforted to think of how Jesus truly understands me.  He sees my every move, good and bad and understands my why.  I find such comfort in that.  Many times when I do something against, my character or against what I know is God’s way, I can really feel like “ How am I going to explain this one to God?”  This verse reminds me, He understands.  Knowing I am understood, helps me, it gives me strength.  Verse 29  states, “He give strength to the weary.”.  Sometimes, that weary is me.  I don’t feel like finishing what I start or…don’t want to get started in the first place.  When we start a wellness or fitness routine, it is important to keep on keeping on.  Just like bathing it only works if you keep it up.  Today, be inspired to get to it!  Know that if you mess up God understands and He will give you the strength to get up and keep going.

Today is the 50th anniversary of Earth day!!  When I think of the first Earth day I think of Hippies and flowers.   I also think of my oldest son, who is 30 today.  So what does all that have to do with wellness in Jesus?  Thankfulness, that’s what!  Earth day is the celebration that we have been given this amazing planet to be good stewards of.  
Genesis 2:15. “The Lord God took the man and put him in the garden of Eden to work it and keep it.”
 Thankfulness is an intrigal part of our ability to be healthy and well.   I remember the first time I could feel my child turn and kick inside of me…how wonderful!  The amazing gratitude I felt as I gazed at him for the first time is incomparable.  All of you parents know what I am talking about.  It’s a joy you can’t explain!  When we live in Joy and thanksgiving it gives us strength to go through tough times and truly enjoy the good times.

Psalm 118:24  “Today is the day the Lord has made, let us rejoice and be glad in it!
Today, may you be inspired to be a good steward of all God has given you!

Fit Bit (Know you are treasured)

Years ago, when I was at the extreme depths of my brokenness, I felt so lonesome and unworthy. 
When I went to read my Bible, I just couldn’t “get it”.  Then, I decided to roll out of bed at 5 am and watch Joyce Meyer.  Her ministry really helped me. Eventually I started reading my Bible and “getting it"….which truly helps me even more!!!   There is so much power in the word of God!!!  One thing she said, was to practice every-time you look into the mirror stop and say, “I am a beautiful child of God!  At first, I really struggled with this.  I didn’t believe I was His righteousness. All I could see when I looked into the mirror was my brokenness.  But, I did keep telling myself I was His beautiful child.   This practice helped me.  Why it helped me, is because; I kept reminding my self, I was not my sin.  Jesus took my sin on the cross.  I am His righteousness.  Jesus gave me His righteousness in exchange for my sin.  Plus He rose from the dead and that is what I get through Him, eternal life.  Looking into the. Mirror and professing my faith, helps me remember, I am treasured.  This state of mind and heart battles my broken, lonely, unworthy feelings.   It helps me live in victory through Jesus.  I hope it helps you too.

Dueteronomy 14:1-2 “ You are  the children of the Lord you God.  Do not cut yourselves or shave the front of your heads for the dead, 2 for you are a people holy to the Lord your God.  Out of all the peoples on the face of the earth, the Lord has chosen you to be His treasured possession.”

Fit BIt ( TGIF)

Fit Bit (TGIF!!!)

Isaiah 53:4-6  “ Surely He took up our infirmities and carried our sorrows, yet, we considered Him stricken by God, smitten by Him, and afflicted.  5 But He was pierced for our transgressions, He was crushed for our iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace was upon Him, and by His wounds we are healed. 6 We are all like sheep, have gone astray, each of us has turned to his own way; and the Lord has laid on Him the iniquity of us all.

When I hear the chimes of my clock, I know an other hour is gone by.  When I look at the cross, I know that my sins have been laid upon it.  Yet, sometimes I hold onto my sins.  I don’t hold onto last hour.  There is nothing I can do to bring back time past.  Many times I wish I could change the past, but I know I cant.  I intentionally decide to trust God with all that has happened and try my best to move forward in my present hour.  .  I hear the chimes and its a reminder to let go and move forward.  

To be truly healthy and well we need to accept the forgiveness Jesus died on the cross, to give us.  Today, we remember, “IT IS FINISHED!”  He paid the price for all our sins yesterdays’, todays’ and tomorrows’ and He remembers them no more.  He took the punishment for us on Good Friday.  This is GOOD!!   When we live in guilt and shame and continue to beat ourselves up for things we have done wrong, there is not benefit in that.  When we accept we have sinned, Jesus paid the eternal penalty for us and now… we turn from our sin and move into the next hour.  This is repentance; turning from the sins that have so easily ensnared us and pressing forward toward the mark, the high calling of God.  Healthy in Jesus is knowing, what He did for us on the cross, lets us live fully today, in our present moment, with hope for our future.  Hope is Health!  
Today, we can look at the darkness of Good Friday, but I’d rather focus on the fact;
SON DAY IS COMING!!  We wouldn’t have Easter, if we didn’t have Good Friday.

Fit Bit (Find It)

Today, I am remembering an Amish man I met in the hospitol, when our lovely Erin was passing.  He told me, he had lost his wife and then his son about a year and a-half before.  He said, he had a choice; 1.  Be angry.   2. Figure out what God wanted him to learn.  He choose to try to learn.  I think of his council often.

In the midst of this Covid 19 pandemic, it’s easy to get dismayed and overwhelmed.  A friend of mine expressed that she was not getting her home projects done even though she now has plenty of time and opportunity to do them.  She is not alone in that.  Many people have the time to do things now, but still lack the desire.  I have been a fitness coach for 40 plus years.  People don’t succeed at their fitness goals, mainly because they prefer to stay the way they are more than they desire to change.  If you are one of the people, not getting your projects done, even though you have plenty of time to do them, you are someone who has to FIND IT.  Find the desire to do it differently!!  I can’t teach you that.  You have to DIG DEEP and FIND IT!!  

Joshua 1:9. “Have I not commanded you?  Be strong and courageous.  Do not be frightened and do not be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.”

Education is motivation!  When I need to “FIND IT”.  I get into God’s word.  When I read His word and take the time to really think about what it says and how it applies to my life,  I become more convicted to do, what I know God is leading me to do.  Plus if I am doing something for God, that truly helps my desire.  It helps me, “FIND IT!”

Colossians 3:17. “Whatever you do, in word or deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through Him.”

Colossians 3:23  “Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord and not for men.”


Be inspired today to go and do, what you know God is inspiring you to do!  

(If we don’t get the things on our list done now, when we have time to do them, we might as well take the items off our list, because we will never do them!)

Fit Bit (Hedge of Protection)

This morning I was sitting by my picture window, here at the lake and reading.  When I looked up, I thought I saw my dog Isabelle wondering out unto the ice.  I went to call her back in and noticed it wasn’t my dog but a coyote.  I remembered Isabelle was in fact outside.  I went to call her in and there she was on my deck in a stare off with the coyote.   She came inside and was shaking, then nestled in close to me, (which she hardly ever does).   I am so thankful she wasn’t breakfast for that coyote.  God had put a hedge of protection around her.  Earlier this week, I was driving my old van and my wheel feel off.  I had been driving it over 70 miles and hour on the interstate within 100 miles of it falling off.  It fell off when I was only going about 25.  It was His hedge of protection. Sometimes it's tempting to see what’s wrong and forget about His hedge of protection.  This quarantine we are all going through is like that.  

Job 1:10 “ Have you not put a hedge around him and his house and everything he has? You have blessed the work of his hands, so his flocks and herds are spread throughout the land.” 

The story of Job is one of my least favorites in the Bible.  I don’t like that Job, went through so much suffering and lost so much, here on this earth.   Yet the story of Job is in the Bible for a reason.  When my lovely new daughter in law Erin, passed my dear friend had me read job 38 to remind me that I can not understand God but I can TRUST.  I do TRUST that our lovely Erin is safe in our Fathers arms forever, and she has no more pain or no more sorrow.  That even though she passed, she is covered in our Fathers Hedge of Protection.  So that’s what I do, I chose to believe in our fathers ever lasting hedge of protection.  Today I hope this little Fit Bit, inspires you to TRUST in it too.

Fit Bit (Trust in God not man)

1 Corinthians 2:3-5. “And I was with you in weakness, and in fear and in much trembling.  And my speech and my preaching was not with enticing words of man’s wisdom, but in the demonstration of Spirit and power;  5 That your faith should not stand in the wisdom of men, but in the power of God.”

The author of this is Paul.  He is famous for his conversion from “Saul” , a persecutor of Christians to “Paul” a follower of Jesus and he wrote most of the New Testament.  His conversion reminds me that it is never too late for any of us to have the great awakening by experiencing the great exchange and start being followers of Jesus.  Paul literally went around killing Christians and Jesus changed his heart and made him new!! 

Paul identifies his speaking is through the power of the Spirit of God.  In todays world it can be so difficult to know where to get the TRUTH.  We see people make decisions in panic. The scammers are coming out to sell and steal.  But we can TRUST in God.  He is the same yesterday, today and forever.  


There is an old saying, “If you don’t stand for something you will fall for anything”.

Today be inspired to Stand on ROCK ; Jesus is LORD.  Use the Holy Bible to guide your every step. (Let it be a lamp unto your feet.  Psalm 119:105)


During this “Down Time”, for many of us it’s important that we don’t just sit and watch the panic unfold on the TV.  I have a family fitness quest, which is a free download on my website that is a good way to remember to take good care of your life and be a good steward of what you have.  Let me know if you try it.  It’s something constructive to do and GREAT for a family or friends to do together.
