comment

These weeks have helped me remember the importance of working on being healthy and well.  I need to hear the truth again and again and Kimberly you speak truth very clearly.  I think the most important aspect of these 12 weeks for me is that I have renewed my commitment to live healthy and well.  I'm printing out your chart and posting it on the frig as a daily reminder of what is important.

Healthy and well (chart wrap up)

Healthy and Well 2012 (wrap up chart)

We have been at this for 12 weeks now.  How do you feel? Let’s review our daily priorities and evaluate how we are doing on each of them.

1.     Love God spend time focused on Him daily: Mathew 6:33
2.     Sleep well with regular times and in peace. Psalm 144
3.     Rest, trust God, cast your cares upon Him; 1 Peter 5:7
4.     Recreate; have a little fun on purpose everyday, enjoy what you have John10: 10
5.     Exercise; If you don’t use it you loose it. Endurance, strength and flexibly training are necessary for optimal physical health. 1 Timothy 4:8
6.     Nutrition; drink 64 oz. water daily, eat 2-3 fruits, 5-7 servings of veggies and 3-4 serving of protein daily.  Natural food sources are the way to go.  Daniel 1;
7.     Love others; practice random acts of kindness, intentionally put on kindness with all people you encounter.

This is Faith Centered Fitness in its simplistic form.
#1 = HOLY; Most important: Love God
#2-6=HEALTHY Very important; Love ourselves; We need to take care of our bodies they are His temples.  If we don’t take care of us, no one else will.  We are no good to others unless we put God first and treat our bodies as His temples.
#3=HAPPY Very important; Love others, Jesus said,” Love others as I have loved you.”

Have you improved in any of these areas these past 12 weeks?  Please let me know if and how healthy and well for 2012 has impacted you.

I will share your feedback.

I will be away from my computer until April 5th.  We will continue on with more healthy and well life tips after that.

1 Peter4:4  “For the time past of our life may suffice us to have wrought the will of the Gentiles, when we walked in lasciviousness, lusts, excess of wine, revelings, banquetings, and abominable idolatries.”

Be fit and be blessed,

Fit Bit( Stay the course)

Fit Bit (Staying the course)
Question:  I have been doing well on m Lent restrictions.  I gave up sugar at first, and then refined my pledge to sugary sweets.  Someone pointed out that there is sugar in many things and I was not ready to give up crackers, bread …etc.  I am still the same weight.  I know I did this to honor God, but I thought I would see a benefit in weight loss too.  I used to eat sweets at least every night and sometimes during the day.  I ate a lot of sweets.  Why am I not seeing a weight loss?

ANNswer:  I do not understand why, but I do know that many times we can be doing the right things and not see any outward rewards.  If you are doing the Lent Challenge you have God front and center daily.  That alone should make you feel better on the inside.  When we go on diets and give up sweets, breads…etc. many times it takes our bodies a while to adjust, then KA- BAM!   Sometimes there is no
Ka- bam.  One of my friends has been working with a doctor to loose weight.  She too did well and did not see results for the first month or so.  She was getting very discouraged.  Her doctor told her that our bodies sometimes need time to heal from the damage we do to then.  While they are healing they hold unto the weight as a protective measure.  My friend has now lost over 15 pounds and is enjoying her new healthful eating habits.  Her results were not immediate.  Her results will probably last a lifetime.

Do you remember the woman who gave all of her money to the collection?  Outwardly it looked like she had done little.

Stay the course, you will see results.

Luke 21:3-4  “ And he said, Of a truth I say unto you, that this poor widow hath cast in more than they all;
For all these have of their abundance cast in unto the offerings of God; but she of her penury hath cast in all the living that she had.”

Be fit and be blessed,

Healthy and Well (random acts of kindness 3)

Healthy and Well
 (Random acts of kindness 3)
How do you treat people that are serving you?

Years ago, I was so caught up in myself that I did not even look a cashier in the eye and smile. Now, I try to use their name and thank them, even if they were slower then my fast paced life required.  How about the wait staff, how do you treat a waiter that is providing you horrible service?

How do you treat the people that are very different then yourself?

I work as a fire fighter in Madison, WI.  There I meet many people who, smell bad, are down on their luck, chronic alcohol and drug abusers and habitual users of the 911 systems.  It is pretty easy to become hardened, irritated and not so kind.  In these cases I have to stop and intentionally put on kindness.

What does kindness look like?

Start with a sincere smile.  Honestly, accept that person for whom they are.  Most of us have many warts.  Some of us are good at keeping them hidden.  Some of us, look a mess.  We are all beautiful children of God.  What if the person you can’t stomach the sight of, was your child?  Would you pretend not to notice?  Start with a sincere smile and ask God to help you love honestly.

RANDOMLY DO SOMETHING NICE; it doesn’t have to be big, just kind.

Philippians 4:13  “ I can do all things through Christ which strengthen me.”

James 1:9-10  “ Let the brother of low degree rejoice in that he is exulted. But the rich, in that he is made low; because as a flower of the grass he shall pass away.”

Be fit and be blessed,

Kimberly

Healthy and Well (random acts of kindness2)

Healthy and Well
 (Random acts of kindness 2)
Show love and kindness to those we love.  Have you ever noticed it is easiest to snap at the ones we love the most? Around our loved ones we; let our guards down, treat them with disregard and take their being here for granted.  We know how it feels when they treat us poorly.  Yet, typically most of us treat our loved ones with less love, respect and kindness then we do strangers, especially when we are stressed.

How do you do in this department?

Today and each day forward love your loved ones with a Christ type of love. (Try your best we can’t get this perfect either.)

When we are in turmoil with our loved ones we are more likely to self-destruct.  I have an acronym I use:

Love;
Accept
Forgive
Forget

L A F F  = Smile, call on God, Trust God in the situation, smile, exhale, be nice!!!

Today focus your random acts of kindness on your loved ones.  You are also one of your loved ones.

Romans 13:8  “ Owe no man anything, but to love one another; for he that loveth another hath fulfilled the law.”

Be fit and be blessed,

Kimberly

Healthy and Well (random acts of kindness)

Healthy and Well 2012
(Random Acts of Kindness)
Good Morning,

Today is the last week we concentrate on truly living the 21-day fitness quest.  How are you doing?  It is easy to focus on one thing and forget to do an other.  No one lives a perfectly balanced and disciplined life.  We can try.  Try to live a better life, with God at the center, Jesus as the ROCK.

This is a quote I enjoy,  “The last guy that was perfect they hung on a cross.”

Simply try, ask God for His help, try again…. keep on keeping on!

Here is a review of what we want to include in our daily lives;
1.     Love God and spend time with Him daily. (Mathew 6:33)
2.     Sleep sweet; get 8-10 hours of sleep daily. (Psalm 4:8)
3.     Trust God, rest in your stress, and cast your cares upon Him. (1 Peter 5:7)
4.     Enjoy your life; recreation is important and so is enjoying the mundane. (John 10:10)
5.     Exercise daily; endurance, strength and flexibility training are all essential. (1 Timothy 4:8)
6.     Nutrition; Drink water; eat fruits, vegetables and lean proteins. (Daniel 1:8-15)
7.     Random acts of kindness Intentionally do something nice for someone else!

John 13:34  “A new commandment I give unto you, That ye love another; as I have loved you, that ye shall also love one another.”

Psalm 144:15  “ Happy is that people, that is in such a case; yea, happy is that people, whose God is the Lord.

This week our focus will be on showing love to others.  Walking in Gods’ love, is what makes us able to be “Fishers of Men”.  (Mathew 4: 19)

Go fish!

Be fit and be blessed,

Kimberly
