Fit Bit (Born_Again Alcoholic)

Fit Bit “Born-Again Alcoholic?”
Dear Kimberly,

Can a practicing alcoholic be born again?
Sincerely,

Fran

Dear Fran,

All repentant sinners can be born again.  The problem with alcoholism or any other addiction is, the substance or behavior becomes the afflicted’s God.  This may seem a bit extreme, but when a person is suffering with alcoholism, he/she thinks about drinking and protecting his/her ability to drink first and foremost.  The addicted become a slave to the alcohol.  When we are born again, we receive the Holy Spirit, which is from God who helps us want to obey God’s laws and love with a pure heart.  If an alcoholic goes back to drinking after being born again, they are convicted in their hearts of their sin, but often still unable to quit. We are all sinners.  One sin is no worse then another.  I believe Alcoholics can be born again, go back to drinking and still be saved.  Yet, if they go back to drinking they will not have the freedom and peace in their hearts, that Jesus died to give them.  All Born Again Christians continue to sin.   It is not our behavior that saves us it is what Jesus did for us on the cross, which saves us.

John 3:16  “For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life.”

John 10:10 “The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill and to destroy; I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it abundantly.”

John 14:26-27  “But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you. 27 Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you; not as the world giveth, give I unto you.  Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.”

Be fit and be blessed,

Kimberly

Fit Bit (living water)

Fit Bit (never thirst again, living water)

It’s summer time!  Really it is.  (Well officially June 21, but close enough)

Summer time is usually hot and humid here in Wisconsin.  Have you established good hydration habits?

People who do not drink enough water tend to over eat.  They mistake their thirst for hunger.   The average person needs to drink about 64 oz of water a day.  A gulp is about an ounce.  I recommend drinking water as you main beverage.  If you are well hydrated you will be less likely to overeat, have more energy and generally feel better.

If our souls our thirsty, we are empty inside and lots of things show up on the outside.  We overeat, over spend, over stress, seek co-dependent relationships, get angry quickly…etc.
We fill ourselves with the unhealthy or even too much of healthy in an attempt to feel good.  We call this freedom to do what we want; yet in fact we become enslaved to these behaviors.  The only way to be filled from the inside is to let Jesus be the Lord of our lives.   Today let His Spirit lead your life.  Drink of His living water.

John 4:13-14  “Jesus answered and said unto her,  “Whosoever drinketh of this water shall thirst again;
14 But whosoever drinketh of the water that I shall give him shall never thirst; but the water that I shall give him shall be in him a well of water springing up into everlasting life.”

Be fit and be blessed,

Fit Bit ( Too much giving back?)

Fit Bit (Too much “Giving Back”?)
Dear Kimberly,

I am trying to do my best to give to the Kingdom of God.  Most of what I do is serving and giving back.  I am getting tired and I am not seeing much for results.  I want to see the results.  How can I know if I am truly doing what God has called me to do, or if I am wasting my time?

Sincerely,

Constantly giving back

Dear Giving Back,

If you are giving with pure motives, then you are not wasting your time.  You may never know, in this world, the difference your efforts are making.  If you are serving to honor God and to be a vessel for Him, your efforts will not return to you in vain.  Yet, you may not see what God is doing through you.  He does not tell us to do well to others as long as it feels good and we can see results.  He tells us, “not to be weary in well doing” and to “give, as we are able”.  If you are burning out, you may be neglecting your own personal health and time alone with God.  Today, take time to evaluate these two major priorities.

1.     The most important thing you can do to, “not weary in well doing” is to make sure you are reading God’s word daily.  His word is your power cord.
2.      Your body is His temple, don’t trash it and expect to stay strong.

Deuteronomy 16:17  “ Everyman shall give as he is able, according to the blessing of the LORD thy GOD which he hath given thee.”

2 Thessalonians 3:13  “But ye, brethren, be not weary in well doing.”

Be fit and be blessed,

Fit BIt (It's HOT!)

Fit Bit (It’s HOT!!!)
Oh Baby it’s hot outside!!!  HOW WILL YOU HANDEL THE HEAT??

To handle the weather;
1.     Drinks lots of water!
a.     We average humans need 64oz of water on a regular day, days with high heat indexes…maybe even more, but at least a gallon.  Water is what you need not soda, coffee, Kool-Aid, etc.…  Pure refreshing water is the best for a hot day!
2.     Eat Fruits and Veggies.
a.     There are many essential nutrients and water in fruits and vegetables, your body needs this everyday, and especially on days your body is stressed.
3.     Limit strenuous outdoor activities.
a.       Heat stroke and heat exhaustion are real consequences on hot days, pay attention to how you feel.

John 7:37-38  “In the last day, that great day of feast, Jesus stood and cried, saying  “If any man thirst let him come unto me, and drink.  38 He that believeth on me, as the scripture hath said, out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water.”

The Heat of the weather we can handle!  The heat of Sin, Jesus handled for us…. Trust in HIM!!

John 3:16  “For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life.”

Be fit, be blessed, and get out of the heat and into salvation!

Kimberly

Psalm 119; 105  “Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.”

GOD”S word is the BIBLE!!!
