Summer Fun,(save the dog)

Summer Fun, Faith and fitness (happy)
Last night I had an epiphany.  We were sitting around the campfire, my little dog, Isabelle started growling and intimidating my big, younger dog Roscoe.  She is regularly not kind to Roscoe, She doesn’t share her food, even if it is way more then she can eat.  She doesn’t share attention.  She decides when they play and when they don’t.  She is not so nice.  I thought to myself…. wouldn’t it be nice if Isabelle could get saved?  Then she would know she is being mean and want to be nice instead.

When I was saved, I received a new nature.  My selfishness and bitterness melted away and I truly became a loving person.  Although in order for me to stay in this love, I have to stay in Christ.  That is why I write these Fit Bits…to remind us that when we stay in Christ we stay in His happiness.

Before I started walking the walk I did not realize I was the ornery one.  Now, when I am ornery, I realize it, repent and intentionally walk with the Lord.

Luke 23:34 “Then Jesus said, “Father forgive them; for they know not what they do. “ And they parted his raiment, and cast lots.”

summer fun, heart attack

I am an emergency worker, fire fighter and EMT.  Yesterday, I was on scene with a man who obviously had a loving wife and good marriage.  He was about 100 pounds over weight and apparently having a heat attack.  The family had a cross on the wall and I reminded the wife to remember her faith.  She smiled, I could see her relief and I kept on in emergency mood.

Here, were two beautiful children of God both significantly over weight.  They were in their late sixties.  I thought, how sad…. they are so overweight that their health is in serious jeopardy.  Yet, they appeared to be loving Christian people.  How is it that we can be so neglectful of our own health and wellness and love the Lord?

We are given one body while we are here on earth.  In heaven we will get a new glorified body.  But to do His work, to our best here, we are called to take care of the gift we have been given.

Are you treating your body as His temple or your trash can?

It is a daily sacrifice to stop with overindulgence and be more active.  It is a way for you to honor God in your life by treating your body as His.

Hebrews 13:16 “ But to do good and to communicate forget not; for with such sacrifices God is well pleased.”

Be fit and be blessed,

Kimberly

Summer Fun (do the work happily)

Summer Fun, Faith and Fitness
In order to have fun we must first work.  Hey ,I have an idea… how about we enjoy our work too!

Last night, I was listening to Charles Stanley from Insight for living.  He said, “ In order to be successful the key factor is not education or opportunity it is perseverance and dedication”.  I believe this in every part of my being.  I have been working with people n health and wellness for over 30 years.  The people that succeed in a long-term healthful lifestyle are the ones that stay determined and decide to enjoy their new life style.

The key to staying determined and persevering is to enjoy the ride.  I have not worked with anyone who hated to exercise and eating right and stayed with it.  There is an old saying; “Whistle while you work”.  We are all capable of adjusting our attitude toward work, fun, faith and fitness.  It is fun to work hard and reap the rewards.  It is definitely more fun to persevere and be successful then it is to give into momentary pleasures that mess us up.

Today, stay determined and be happy doing so!

Proverbs 10:4 “He becometh poor that dealeth with a slack hand; but the hand of the diligent maketh rich.”

Summer Fun, six-marshmallow smore

Summer Fun, Faith and Fitness (the six-marshmallow smore)

In the summer and fall months I enjoy putting a six-marshmallow smore into my mouth.  I know this is a bit indulgent but I enjoy it and each six-marshmallow smore is an event. I take great care in toasting three perfectly roasted marshmallows at a time and love the way the marshmallows and the white chocolate melt together to create this incredible pleasure in my mouth!  I love it so much that before I eat the smore I refill it with three more perfectly toasted marshmallows and do it again.  I take great care in preparing this six-marshmallow smore and eating it.

I do not take the same great care of what comes out of my mouth!

I find myself complaining and bad mouthing people.  I hate to say that is true but at times it is.  I consider myself a born again Christian woman but instead of taking great care to stop when I know I should not be spreading gossip I sometimes continue on justifying my poor behavior.  Recently, my mother has been ill.  I have spoken poorly about her more then once.  A week ago, I lost two caps in one day.  My dentist said that these usually last 20-30 years and it is very unusual for two to fall out in one day especially since they are both relatively new. I couldn’t help but think that it was a great reminder for me to watch my mouth!   Love my mom the way she is and keep her medical condition to myself.  Showing her respect both in and out of her presence.

Mathew 15:11  “ Not that which goeth into the mouth defileth a man: but that which cometh our of the mouth, this defileth a man.”

Kimberly

Summer Fun - Rock pile

Summer Fun, Faith and Fitness-rock pile
Last weekend we were up at the lake.  We needed an extra boat, so we launched the Prince Craft.  As we backed into the water the van became stuck and the boat motor hit a ROCK PILE.  The boat did not have enough water to float off the trailer.   I needed to use the boats’ power to get off the trailer, so I did regardless of the ROCK PILE.  The boat did not move, just cling, cling, and clank the prop on the rocks.  I quit, realized I could not possibly do this alone, prayed and tried again, not a single rock.  The boat was a float and the van was able to get off the launch.  The boat ran fine for a couple days and then it died.  When fighting the ROCK PILE I chewed up the prop and took out the lower unit.  As I look back, I wish I had called out to God when I first hit the rocks.  I believe, if I would have, I would not need a new lower unit today.

What is your ROCK PILE?  Are you fighting it alone or are you trusting GOD?

Luke18:1 “And he spake a parable unto them to this end, that men ought always to pray, and not to faint.”

Kimberly

Summer Fun(never to old!)

Summer Fun, Faith and Fitness (never to old!)
I was walking yesterday, and I happened upon a lady I  met a couple years ago.   She is in her mid to late eighties.  She told me her garden was over flowing and would have plenty of food this year!  She looked great and was so very happy!  She gave me a couple tomatoes and a couple cucumbers.  She said she joined the Church of 7th day Adventist 4years ago and now she feels great!!!  She became a vegetarian and started a waking program.  She said ,”I now walk to the double bend in the road and back without getting winded.”.  She has lost 31 pounds and gained spiritual and physical strength!  Praise God that we are never to old!!!

Philippians 3:13 “Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before.”

Be fit and be blessed,

Kimberly

Summer Fun, Love = Happy

Summer Fun, Faith and Fitness (Love=happy)
Faith is the foundation of our ability to lighten up and live.  We will all go through something almost daily.  That is just life.  Our ability to believe that Jesus will hold us though it all and provide for us allows us to leap forward into out new day, new moment.  I think that is why it is called a leap of faith.

I often have to practice leaving problems behind in my relationships.  People mess up.  They offend me and I do not always feel like turning the other cheek and being nice.  Yet when I do I feel Gods love flow through me.  Today, and each day intentionally choose love and kindness no matter how justified you are in being angry and watch how the love of God flows through you!

1 John 2:9-10 “He that saith he is in the light, and hateth his brother, is in darkness even until now. 10 He that loveth his brother abideth in the light and there is none occasion of stumbling in him.”
