Fit Bit (Garbage in?)

Fit Bit (Garbage in?)

When I entered the gym today,  I saw a quote posted, “Life is not formed by good art, it is formed by bad television.”

Mar 5, 2014 New York Daily News
Children aged 2-11 watch over 24 hours of TV per week, while adults aged 35-49 watch more than 33 hours, according to data from Nielsen that suggests TV time increases the older we get. The average American watches more than five hours of live television every day.
April 4,2013 Religious News Service
More than half of Americans think the Bible has too little influence on a culture they see in moral decline, yet only one in five Americans read the Bible on a regular basis, according to a new survey.
More than three-quarters of Americans (77 percent) think the nation’s morality is headed downhill, according to a new survey from American Bible Society.
The survey showed the Bible is still firmly rooted in American soil: 88 percent of respondents said they own a Bible, 80 percent think the Bible is sacred, 61 percent wish they read the Bible more, and the average household has 4.4 Bibles.

James 1:5  “If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask it of God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you.”

My people are destroyed from lack of knowledge. “Because you have rejected knowledge, I also reject you as my priests; because you have ignored the law of your God, I also will ignore your children.

In order for me to stay strong in God’s word, I try to read the Bible daily, listen to Christian radio, fellowship with other Christians and attend my home church services regularly.  I fall short on the entire above, but if I keep on keeping on, it helps me have my head knowledge on God. I have noticed where my head knowledge is my heart follows.

Bottom line: I stay strong, through the powerful gift of Jesus.  I remember to keep Him first by intentionally feeding myself His word.

I hope this message inspires you to turn off the TV and pick up the Bible!!

Be fit and be blessed,

Kimberly

Fit Bit (LAFF)

Fit Bit (LAFF)
Today as I was reading the book of Joshua Chapter 9, in verse 14 it read, “The men of Israel sampled their provisions but did not inquire of the Lord.”.”

“But did not inquire of the Lord”, hit me like a ton of bricks!!!

I tend to get an idea in my head and run with it, I often don’t take the time to pray, be still and wait on the Lord.  I want answers and action NOW.  Especially when it comes to my children.  If my children are hurting I want to fix it.  If they are struggling I want to help.  The truth is most of the time; it’s way beyond me.  My children and the people I love need to go through their stuff, just like I need to go through mine.  I am not the GREAT HEALER…. God is!!   I can pray, be still and trust GOD.

If I need action, while I am trying to be patient, waiting on God.  I can actively love my loved ones where they are.

I use the LAFF philosophy when I think of loving people; I try to love on others as Jesus loves me.

L= Love, love people where they are at and ALWAYS be kind.
A=Accept, accept people for who they are, not who I want them to be.
F=Forgive, forgive them, regardless of the offenses.
F= Forget, forget it, I try to; Stop thinking about and bringing up the things that are over!!

When I have a tough time applying this, I pray and ask God to help me.  I pray for the person, even though sometimes it is hard to get out the words.

When I forget God, it’s like I am trying to be God and that NEVER works.

Be fit and be blessed,

Kimberly

Psalm 103; 12  “as far as the east is from the west, so far has he removed our transgressions from us.”

Fit Bit (Happy BIrthday)

Fit Bit (Happy Birthday!)
25 years ago to day I gave birth to my first-born son.  What an amazing experience!!  I cannot describe the feeling of joy and gratitude that I had as I laid my eyes on him, His father too was filled with awe as we both felt the newness of Ryan’s life and the blessing we had both just received.

New life is precious; as it comes from the womb and is even more precious as is comes from the baptism of the Holy Spirit.  I’m very thankful my son has this second birth as well.  I believe the second birth is even more important then the first.  If we are granted with long life here on Earth, we may live into our 90’s.   Which compared to eternity is relatively short.  When we have the baptism of the Holy Spirit we believe that Jesus Christ paid the price for our sins on the cross and He rose again from the grave concurring death.  Our belief in Jesus gives us a NEW LIFE, regardless of when we came from the womb.

Today, celebrate your birthday by letting go of the old and walk in the New life you have been given through Jesus Christ!!!

“Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!”

Be fit and be blessed,

Kimberly

Last weekend I spoke at a retreat for some wonderful Christian women.  Even though every one of us identified ourselves as Christians, for as long as we remembered, each of us also identified things of this world we needed to let go, so we could better walk in His word in our New life through Jesus Christ.  What can you let go of that will help you move forward in Christ?

Fit Bit (Healthy)

Fit Bit (Healthy)
Psalm 40:8  “I desire to do your will, O my God; your law is within my heart.”

What does health look like to you?

Is it being at your ideal body weight?
Is it being able to run a marathon?
Is it being physically strong?

When I think of health, I think of a well-balanced life centered on Jesus Christ.

Many days I over eat ice cream.  Yet, I am still healthy.
Some days, I’m fairly sedentary.  Yet, I am still healthy.

Obviously, eating right and moving more helps our physical bodies.

1 Timothy 4:8  “Exercise profits the body a little, Godliness profits in all things.”

When I let the Holy Spirit guide my every step, I am truly healthy.  Health in my physical body really helps me.  Health in my mind, soul, relationships, finances, work and home in combination with physical health is wear it is at!  The only way I know to be well rounded and healthy in all these areas is by adhering to the God’s Holy Spirit, in all that I think, say and do.

Mathew 6:33  “Seek ye first the kingdom of God and His righteousness and all these things will be added unto you.”

Of course I do not do this perfectly, no one does.  SO……the biggest part of my wellness is continually accepting the forgiveness Jesus died to give me and keep on keeping on!!

I hope this helps you be motivated to be healthy in all areas of your life by putting God first!

Be fit and be blessed,  and fill yourself with His word!
