Fit Bit Motivation

Fit Bit with Kimberly Motivation
Keep on Keeping on!  That is easier said then done in some things.  The only way I can keep on is by continually reminding myself that God is in control.  His way is better then mine and He is the rewarded of those who diligently seek Him.  It is easy for me to get frustrated with myself and what I am doing but when I let go and trust God I am able to find the internal strength to forgive myself, let go and keep on keeping on in a direction I feel is pleasing to God.  How do I know what is pleasing to God?  I keep reading the Bible.

What I find in His word is others have been struggling with what I struggle with since the beginning of time.

The other day I was frustrated with things going on.  My brother’s dog had broken the leach and was running all over the neighborhood and not responding to his name.  I had an appointment I wanted to be at and it appeared I would not make it.  My good friend was not answering his phone and I was worried about his health.  I felt out of control.  I feared the worst.  I prayed, “Father, no matter how bad things are I will still worship you.  I trust your ways are better then mine.”  Immediately the dog walked up to me and couple minutes later my friend called me.  God once again showed me that He is always there for me 24/7.

Psalm 90:14 “O Satisfy us early with Your mercy, that we may rejoice and be glad all our days!”

What is your story?  We all have these instances.  God loves each of us intimately! Keep on keeping on by remembering this.

Be fit and be blessed,

Kimberly

lent Wellness Challenge Day 51

Lent Wellness Challenge day 51 (final)

This afternoon we meet at 3:30pm at Faith Free if you can come please do!  Call me if you want to attend via phone.  608-487-4879

Many times when we complete a challenge like this it is easy to go directly back to our old ways.  Our old habits can have strong holds on us and it take a committed effort to continue on in His ways not ours   David, is described as a man after God’s on heart.  He wrote many of the Psalms.  When you read his Psalm’s it is easy to see that he struggled too.

Psalm 31:1-2 “ In Thee, O Lord I put my trust; let me never be ashamed: deliver me in thy righteousness.  2.  Bow down thine ear to me; deliver me speedily: be thou my strong rock, for a house of defense to save me.

I want to stay away from the over indulging of sweets, yet I too have fallen off this week with Easter candy and lack of desire.  When I do stay away from the overindulgence my weight comes off and I feel good about what I am doing.  When I over indulge I feel the old “I can start tomorrow”, come back.

Monday, I will officially be teaching my LIVE. STRONG. FOREVER program step-by-step in the same manner we have covered the Lent Challenge.  This is a Christian Holistic wellness program and we will continue to encourage each other to keep on keeping on.  Please sign up by replying back to this email.  I will post it on the blog and on Face Book.

Be fit and be blessed,

Kimberly

Lent Wellness Challenge Day 50

Lent Challenge Day 50
I have been off line the past two days sorry for the interruption.

As we wrap up our Lent Challenge let’s reflect on the impact the Lent Challenge has had on our lives.  Personally, I gave up more then one dessert a day.  I had many slip ups, but since Easter Sunday I have been continuing to try to stay with this behavior.  I chose this behavior to honor God and treat my body as His temple not my trashcan.  How are you doing?  Have you started a behavioral change in your life to honor God?

1Peter 1:3-9
According as His divine power hath given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of him that hath called us to glory and virtue.
4. Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust.  5.  And beside this, giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue; and to virtue knowledge; 6. And to knowledge temperance; and to temperance patience; and to patience godliness; 7. And to godliness brotherly kindness;  and to brotherly kindness charity.  8.  For if these things be in you, and abound, they make you that ye shall neither be barren nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ. 9. But he that lacketh these things is blind and cannot see afar off and hath forgotten that he was purged from his old sins.

These verses in 1 Peter really sum up a God centered holistic life style.   This is the Faith Centered Fitness lifestyle.  We will go over the whole program in greater detail in the weeks to come.

My Lent goal was to get us to start with the simple concept of Holy, Healthy and Happy every day to honor God.  How did you do?

Be fit and be blessed,

Kimberly

Lent Wellness Challenge Day 47

Lent Wellness Challenge day 47

HAPPY EASTER!!!

HOLY, HEALTHY, HAPPY…today is a great day to concentrate on them all!

I will never forget the joy I felt an Easter Sunday morning years ago as a little child.  I had learned that because Jesus died on the cross for me and rose again, I do not have to die but I can go to heaven!  We all, can have eternal life, through Jesus Christ!!

He is risen, He is risen indeed!  This is the most amazing news and today is the day we celebrate.  Today let’s share this truth, in all we do.

HOLY=focus on GOD
HEALTHY= accept Jesus’s sacrifice
HAPPY=share His truth

Mathew 19:28  “Even as the Son of man came not to be ministered unto, but to minister, and to give his life a ransom for many.”

Happy Easter,

Kimberly

lent Wellness Challenge Day 46

Lent Wellness Challenge Day 46
Tomorrow is Easter Sunday.  This weekend is typically full of celebration! He is risen He is risen indeed!  We should celebrate!  This is Easter Weekend!

How do you celebrate?  I used to celebrate with food and drink.  I still prepare good quality food.  I make sure we have a feast, yet the feast is full of healthful food choices.    I serve lean proteins, fresh fruit, fresh vegetables and not much for snacks or drinks.  I have my family focus on card games, learning about each other and of course, the reason for the season, Jesus!  I make sure we talk about how through Jesus we can have eternal life!   We can have eternal glory!

Currently we are living the dash.  Our life style can radiate His love, which shows external glory.  Having Him reside in our hearts produces inner beauty, which makes all of the above possible.

Do you have a plan for Easter?  Does it include HOLY, HEALTHY, And HAPPY?  How will you be honoring Him in your celebration?

John 12:30-32 Jesus answered and said,
“This voice came not because of me but for your sakes.  Now is the judgment of this world: now shall the prince of this world be cast out.  And I, if I be lifted up from the earth, will draw all men unto me.”

Be fit and be blessed and have a Happy Easter!

Lent Wellness Challenge Day 45

Lent Wellness Challenge Day 45
Today is Good Friday, Jesus laid down His life for us, and so we can be free from sin and have a relationship with God.  THANK YOU JESUS!!!

Leaving our sins, destructive thoughts and behaviors in the past is easier said then done.  Jesus took our sins away and He removed them as far as the east is from the west.  Today, be motivated to leave the sin, which easily ensnares you in the past.  We all have been working on that, this Lent season.   How are you doing?

Colossians 3:17 “And whatsoever you do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God and the Father by him.”

Holy, Healthy Happy…. Colossians 3 is a great read!

Be fit and be blessed,

Kimberly

Lent Wellness Challenge Day 44

Lent Wellness Challenge day 44
Corn and Soy are fillers in many products we don’t even realize they are in.  Corn and soy are processed as sugar in our bodies.  Why are they in so many products?  They are government subsidized.  Michelle Obama advocates healthful life styles for Americans and our children.  She says; if we have to subsidize something subsidize fruits and vegetables. (I received this info from Dr. Dan Murphy at last week’s wellness conference)  When we fill ourselves, let’s know what is in our food and mainly fill with fruits and vegetables.

Convenience drives most of us Americans.  If we want to reach for fruits and vegies first they need to be convenient for us.  I suggest keeping fresh fruit in a bowl on your table or desk.  If you are starving and need fast food, think of were you could pick up a healthful choice.  Many convenience stores now offer carrots, veggie trays, fruit bowls and some lean proteins.  It is best if we can preplan our food for not only the day but also the week.  When we allow ourselves to be grabbing something at the last minute we are more likely to be grabbing the wrong thing.  God is always convenient.  He is always there.  When we are hungry are we hungry for food?

Lamentations 3:24-25  ”The Lord is my portion”, says my soul, “Therefore I hope in Him!”  The Lord is good to those who wait for Him, To the soul who seeks Him. KJV

Be fit and be blessed,

Kimberly

Lent Wellness Challenge Day 43

Lent Wellness Challenge day 43
“The top 40% of caloric beverage drinkers in the US consume over 760 calories a day from beverages.” “It would be difficult for a person to be heavy if he or she drank only water, consumed a small amount of added sugar in foods, ate lots of fruits and vegetables, and ate no fried foods. Of course, one needs also to be physically active.”

The World Is Fat
By Barry Popkin

We have been talking about our sugar consumption.  It is good to get our sugar from fruits and vegetables.  Water is the best choice for us to drink.  High fructose corn syrup is to be avoided. We can find it in many of our foods and our drinks.  Today be a label reader and look for High fructose corn syrup.  If you see it, avoid it!  Remember natural is best in what we eat and drink.

We want to honor our bodies as His temple.  We don’t feed our dogs or children things we know are toxic for them.  Why do we compromise and feed our selves poison?   It tastes good?

Why do you eat things you know if not healthful?  How do you get on track when you do?

1 Corinthians 6:19  “What?  Know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own?”

Be fit and be blessed,

Kimberly

Lent Wellness Challenge Day 42

Lent Wellness Challenge Day 42

Yesterday we opened up the concept that sugar can be just as addictive as cocaine, tobacco or alcohol.  I was at a nutritional conference with Dr. Dan Murphy and he pulled up much research to support processed sugar is a significant contributor to plague n the arteries.  He suggested we consume sugars from natural food sources such as fresh fruit.   He wet on to say, while consuming fresh fruits and vegetables it is best for us to choose those high in antioxidants.  Antioxidant help neutralize “free radicals” rich cause aging and cancer. Blue berries, pomegranate, broccoli, spinach, tomatoes, and carrots are great foods for this.  Dark chocolate and red wine also provide antioxidants.

Murphy went on to say that many of our meats are grain feed and when we eat them we are eating corn and soy, (sugar source) which is linked to free radical production.  He suggested making sure our meats are grass feed or “free range”.

Sugar is everywhere!  A big trigger is over hungry.  If we allow ourselves to become over hungry we are more likely to feel we need sugar. (Feeling a sugar addiction)

The best way to prevent a sugar addiction is to concentrate on eating a well-balanced, natural diet high in fruits, vegetables and lean proteins.  Murphy suggested 10 servings of vegetables a day.  He said if you do supplement choose natural vitamins and grind them up for easy absorption.  Attack a sugar addiction.,
By getting in all your nutrients daily.

Knowledge helps us stay on track.
.
1 Colossians 1:10 “That ye might walk worthy of the Lord unto all pleasing, being fruitful in every good work, and increasing in knowledge of God.”

How do you get in your proper amount of nutrients?

Be fit and be blessed,

Kimberly

Lent Wellness Challenge Day 41

Lent Wellness Challenge Day 41
We have touched on the Faith centered Wellness wheel below is a review;

We function best if our life is centered on God and we have all major areas of our lives focused on doing His ways.

In our Body we pursue health vs. sickness
In our mind we apply God’s word vs. negativity.
In our soul we rest in love vs. anger
In our relationships we live in acceptance vs. critism
In our home we create a safe vs. hostile environment.
In our work we strive for diligences vs. slothfulness.
In our finances we are responsible vs. squandering.

There are many things that can throw us off this balance.  I have previously referred to them as triggers.  Sugar is something that can throw us off balance.  I was at a nutritional conference last weekend that discussed many ways our diet can hurt us.  Sugar and sugar substitutes were a big concern.  The speaker Dr. Dan Murphy said that sugar; corn, soy and grain products are huge contributors to the decline in our health.  He said, they could be as addictive as cocaine, tobacco and alcohol.  I have limited myself to one normal size sweet a day for Lent.  I feel better and I am not feeling controlled by my sugar cravings.

How do you control your sweet in take and how do sweets affect you?  Please comment so we can help each other have better lives by avoiding the sweet overload.

When I need help my best source is God.  He will answer our prayers.  He knows what we need before we ask.  Luke 18:1-8 inspired me today.

Luke 18:1  “And He spake a parable unto them to this end, that men ought always to pray, and not to be faint.”KJV

Be fit and be blessed,

Kimberly

Lent Wellness Challenge Day 40

Lent Wellness Challenge Day 40

Finances=Responsible

Most of us think of finances as our money.   Finances can be thought of as recourses too.  Recourses include your time, talents, material processions, relationships, money and more.  When we honor God in all of our finances we will feel “on purpose for Him.   We have all heard that we honor God with a tithe.  I believe we should honor Him in everything we have.  I try to give Him my first fruits by spending the first part of my morning with Him, in prayer and Bible study.  I then go on to continue to be responsible with everything He has given.   Being responsible and taking good care of the gifts I have been given is a good way to Honor God.  How are you doing at honoring God in all areas of your life?  Are you being responsible with your recourses?

Each one of us has been given our own gifts, ask yourself are you using yours for God?

MATHEW 25:23 “His Lord said unto him, “Well done good and faithful servant; thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things: enter thou into the joy of the Lord”.”

Be fit and be blessed,

Kimberly

Lent Wellness Challenge Day 39

Lent Wellness Challenge day 39
WORK=DEILIGENCE

The next spoke of our wellness wheel is work.
I love the saying, “If you love what you do you will never have to work another day in you life!”   Most of us spend the majority of our waking hours at work.  If we chose to be miserable during this time frame, we are choosing to be miserable for a considerable chunk of our life.

Sometimes the work we have before us is not pleasurable.  Yet if we do all things unto His glory we can turn dreaded tasks into a form of worship.  Knowing we are doing all our work for the Lord helps with internal motivation and true joy.

When we can walk in joy, in all we do, it is easier to stay on track with all our wellness goals.

1 Corinthians 15:58 “Therefore, my beloved brethren, be ye steadfast, unmovable always abounding in the work of the Lord, forasmuch as ye know that your labor is not in vain in the Lord.” KJV

Be fit and be blessed,

Kimberly

Lent Wellness Challenge Day 38

Lent Wellness Challenge Day 38
HOME=Safe (Home is where our story begins, Home is where the heart is, Home is safe!)

Today as we continue on with the Faith Centered Fitness Wellness Wheel we will touch on keeping our homes safe.  When we think of safety let’s think of the basis for safety first.  Many things are simply “out of our control”.  The foundation of being safe is FAITH.  Grounding our home around our faith is the first step to making our homes safe.

Applying His word to our daily life at home is where to start.  If we don’t practice being a Christian at home how are we supposed to be one in public?

At home let’s get rid of the triggers that can cause us poor behavior for example:

1.     Eliminate junk food from our homes.
2.     Keep the televisions off unless we are watching something on purpose.
3.     Keep our homes clean and in good working order.
4.     Stock our homes with healthful food choices.
5.     Treat each other and us with love, respect and kindness and forgiveness.
6.     Keep our homes alcohol free especially if a family member is an alcoholic.
7.     Keep all forms of violence, and ungodliness out of our homes.

These are just a few suggestions.  You know what you need to improve your home situation.  Please share your ideas with us.  It is important that our homes are a place we practice being CHRISTIANS!  A place we can THRIVE!

“Do not eat nor drink anything that makes your brother stumble”(Does anyone remember where this verse is from?)

John 10:27 “My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me”

Be fit and be blessed,

Kimberly

Lent Wellness Challenge Day 37

Lent Challenge Day 37
The Faith Centered Fitness wellness wheel includes;
BODY, MIND, SOUL, RELATIONSHIPS, HOME, WORK AND FINANCES.

If one of these areas is “off” we can be triggered to fall into old familiar comfort behaviors that might not be, good for us such as over eating, gossip or a give up attitude.  “Jesus take the wheel” is a fun country song and a great way to think of our wellness wheel.

RELATIONSHIPS=ACCECTANCE
(Love, Accept, Forgive, Forget)

Ask yourself, Are you the type of person people like to see enter the room or leave?

If we want to have great relationships we have to be the best we can be first.  God helps us with that.

John 15:12  “This is my commandment that ye love one another, as I have loved you.”

How does Jesus love us?  He loves us unconditionally.  He continually forgives us, He accepts us for all we are and all we are not.  He forgets our past mistakes and continually encourages us to keep on keeping on with him.  This is where my LAFF actinium comes from.

There is much to cover when we talk about relationships but to start, let’s love others as Jesus loves us.  When we are tempted to back bite, slander or be judgmental let’s call on His strength and be His love.

Please share how you control your emotions and love with Christ sloe in your relationships.

Be fit and be blessed,

Kimberly

Lent Wellness Challenge Day 36

Lent Wellness Challenge Day 36
Good Morning,

I am on my way to Georgia today.  It is green down here!  Hold on Wisconsinites, it will come our way!!

We have determined in order to establish desired behavior changes; we have to make them a ROCK.  (Something we do as a non-negotiable priority)

This relates to our wellness wheel:
 Mind set on God=Holy
Body set on heath=Healthy
Soul set on love=Happy

These are the ROCKS for the rest of the wellness wheel.  If we are determined to not compromise on these three ROCKS our behavior in the remaining areas of our lives will naturally follow suite, through the help of our Lord, Jesus Christ.

John 13:35 “By this shall all men know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to another.”

Do you feel you have established this foundation more, so far this Lent season?  I would like to here from you as we go on.

Be fit and be blessed,

Kimberly

Lent Wellness Challenge Day 35

Lent Wellness Challenge day 35
Faith Centered Fitness teaches a true wellness lifestyle starts with centering our life on God.

I keep Jesus front and center by using: 1.  Christian Fellowship 2.  Sound pastoral advise 3. The Bible 4. Prayer   5.Faith
I trust in His love no matter how bleak the situation is before me.

Jeremiah 29:11  ““For I know the plans I have for you” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future”.”

In Faith Centered Fitness we take this foundation and apply it to all areas of our lives.  So far this Lent, we have spoken mainly about taking care of our relationship with God, treating our bodies as His temple and loving others. (Holy, healthy, happy)

The wellness wheel is a great way to illustrate how all areas of our lives are connected.  Below is a link to my website and my Logo, the back wheel is the Faith Centered Fitness wellness wheel.
(Currently the website is not functioning well, but you will get the idea)

The seven main areas of our lives are:

Body
Mind
Soul
Relationships
Home
Work
Finances

If one of these areas is “off” it affects our peace. (Triggers us)  With God as the hub of our wheel, no matter where we are flat, His love helps us keep on keeping on.  The next couple of days we will expand our wellness  thoughts, to talk about these other aspects of our lives.

Wellness Wheel:

Be fit and be blessed,

Kimberly

Lent Wellness Challenge Day 34

Lent Wellness Challenge Day 34
Good Morning,

Easter is almost two more weeks…I was wrong yesterday…have you ever been wrong?

HAPPYPsalm 144:15 “Happy is that people, that is in such a case; yea, happy is that people, whose God is the Lord.”

How can we be wrong and happy?  I believe we can be happy no matter how many times we are wrong or mess up.  I practice a simple formula to help me with my happiness:

Love; I love God, love myself and love others; I can do this by remembering how much Jesus loves me.
Accept; I accept others and myself for everything we are and everything we are not.  I accept Gods ways are better then mine.
Forgive:  I continually forgive my self and others, by remembering what Jesus did for us on the cross.
Forget:  I leave the past in the past. I let go of the things I cannot control and trust God.  I let Jesus take my sins and remove them as far as the east is from the west.

Let’s practice LAFF.  I know when I do, I am happier regardless of what life throws
My way.  This also helps me stay on track in my wellness life style quest.

Be fit and be blessed,

Kimberly

Lent Wellness Challenge Day 33

Lent Wellness Challenge day 33

This is our final week.  Yesterday, we reviewed taking time to make our relationship with God through Jesus one of our rocks.  A rock being something we are sure to do each day!

Today, let’s review simple ways to be healthy.  Our body is His temple; taking care of His temple needs to be a rock!
1.     Sleep.
2.     Rest. (Cast your cares upon Him for He cares for you)
3.     Recreate (Do all things unto the Lord with joy in our hearts)
4.     Exercise (Exercise profits the body a little, Godliness profits the body in all things)
5.     Nutrition
6.     Hygiene
7.     Medical and dental care

Each of the above areas is important for our physical health.  We do not need to be phenatical we just need to consistently do things that will help us go in the right direction.  When we are lacking in any of the above seven areas we can start to feel triggered to throw in the towel. Do what is manageable, daily and then stretch your self a bit to be better.

When we feel good in our physical bodies we are more able to go out and do what needs to be done for God.  Love God and us by taking care of us spiritually and physically.

Proverbs 20:17 “Bread of deceit is sweet to a man; but afterward his mouth shall be filled with gravel.”

Be fit and be blessed,

Kimberly

Lent Wellness Challenge Day 31

Lent Wellness Challenge Day 32
Getting in the Big Rocks!     This is what Linda commented yesterday and she is spot on.

I use the HOLY, HEALTHY, HAPPY approach because it is simple.  If we can make these three rocks that we get in everyday we will see the peace in our lives increase.  I know this because I have seen it in my life and many peoples lives which whom I’ve worked with.
Simple ways to add a bit of Holy to our lives;
Read a Bible verse a day.
Read the Bible chapter that corresponds to the Lent Challenge verse daily.
Listen to a Christian speaker on TV or the radio.
Listen to Christian music on a CD or on the radio.
Take time to pray.
Take time to sit quietly with Jesus, letting Him love you.
Continually remind yourself; all things work out for good to those who love God.
Fellowship with other Christians and talk about your walk with God.
Seek sound Pastoral advice.
Memorize a Bible verse a week. (Post the verse of the week on your fridge)

Sometimes in order for us to fit in the Big Rocks we need to start with a size we can commit to and go from there.

Commitment is a choice not a feeling!

Psalm 118:24 “This is the day the Lord has made I will rejoice and be glad in it.

Be fit and be blessed,

Kimberly

Linda’s Comment:

Kimberly talked about getting everything in the plan and then being too rigid. We all have a lot of commitments - spouse, children, work, church, extended family, friends.  We all want to do everything we can to be effective and organized.  But our time is spent "spinning our wheels" and not accomplishing all that we want to.  Here's what I teach my direct reports about organization and scheduling.  It is from Steven Covey's "The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People".  When I teach this concept I actually use a bucket or container, big, fist size rocks, pebble size rocks, and sand.

Without telling them about the exercise, I ask one person to put all of the rocks, pebbles and sand into the bucket.  Invariably, they put in the sand or pebbles first and then try to fit the rocks in last.  They try to grind the rocks down into the sand or dig some of it out but it just doesn't quite work.   After that demonstration, I talk about how the bucket represents your schedule/life.  The rocks are the big events - the must do, don't want to miss kind of things or in the context of your job, the things that are deadline driven and must get done.  The pebbles are important things that have deadlines or are recurring things - paying bills, turning in reports, preparing for a meeting, taking your child to the dentist.  The sand represents all the other things in life.  Here's how it does works - put the "rocks" in the bucket first.  Schedule and make time for the most important things in your life.  Use a planner or your computer or a calendar.  Then put the less important things (the pebbles) in.  You will notice how the pebbles fit in around the rocks.  Then pour in the sand - and the sand fills in the spaces around the rocks and pebbles.  The sand represents the day to day things that fill up our time.   It is up to you to decide what are the rocks, pebbles and sand in your life.   You can fit in all the rocks and pebbles (Important things) or you can just fit in the sand (time wasters, .  It's up to you.  Sand can be tv watching, reading mail, emails, phone calls, internet surfing, games, reading, cleaning, laundry, some sports activities - things that need to get done but are neither urgent or important, or could be done by someone else or in a different way - example cooking a meal. Some of the activities are recreational or they could be time wasters.  The pebbles are bigger things like dr and dentist appts, meetings, things that are important to do or accomplish, things that involve other people's time.  The rocks are based on your values - family activities, vacations, church, financial planning, training for employees, etc.  These are things with deadlines or things that will not get done unless you set aside time to do them. Once a year, or even once a week, golfing might be a big rock  but if that fills your life and you are not a PGA champion, there might be something wrong with your effectiveness.

I hope this was not too preachy but I see so many people that complain that they wish they could do this, or do that but they can't find the time.  You MAKE time for what's important to you.  This is only one concept from the book, and there are a lot of other concepts that mesh with it.

All - have a great weekend and enjoy the warmer temps.  Let's hope we do not have severe weather!

Lent Wellness Challenge Day 31

Lent Wellness Challenge Day 31
Things get in the way of us living our HOLY, HEALTHY, HAPPY lifestyle.

When we set a course for ourselves, develop a plan on how we are going to fit in each of the above elements we need to be sure our plan is doable.  It is easy to make a very ridged plan and deviate from it.  The more we deviate from the plan the more likely we are to give up entirely. How is your plan going?

The most important thing we are doing this Lent season is putting God through Jesus front and center of our lives.

Mathew 6:33  “ Seek ye first the kingdom of God and is righteousness and all these things shall be added unto you.”

If we do not have our health and wellness it is difficult to feel spiritual.  It is more likely that we will react emotionally.

1 Corinthians 6:19  “What? Know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own?”

The foundation of loving God and ourselves through Jesus is what gives us the ability to Love others.  When we practice His love in our relationships we are happier.

John 13:34  “A new commandment I give unto you, That ye love one another, as I have loved you, that ye also love one another.

Easter Sunday is quickly approaching.  Are you HOLY, HEALTHY and HAPPY?   It’s not being perfect it is about “keep on keeping on” in the upward call of God.

Be fit and be blessed,

Kimberly

lent Wellness Challenge Day 30

Lent Wellness Challenge Day 30
I was listening to Chuck Swindal the other day and He started out his sermon with the idea of “Righteousness is to be made Right”. Yesterday I felt this.  Usually my Lent promise goes very well. This year I have ben struggling a bit more.  This morning I read;

Psalm 68:3 “But let the righteous be glad; let them rejoice before God:  yea, let them exceedingly rejoice.”KJV

I had an easier time yesterday staying on track and away from excess sweets and my old habit of cheese and crackers. (Lately since I was doing well with sweets I started treating myself to Cheese and crackers.)  Isn’t it crazy how our brains can rationalize undesirable behavior?

The reasons I did better yesterday:

1.     I decided to walk a better walk.
2.      I confessed with my mouth the sin that was plaguing me.  I asked for help.
3.     I accepted His forgiveness and I moved on.

I do not know what today will bring. I do know that when I continue to press forward in the upward call of God.  Calling on Him continually, I will do better then if I do not.

May you all have a fresh, beautiful day!

Lent Wellness Challenge Day 29

Lent Challenge Day 29

Even Adam and Eve had a hard time obeying the law.  They had one thing they were not to do and of course they did it, which resulted in the fall of Mankind.  Thanks God for Jesus, who cam to this world and perfectly obeyed the law for us. He became our perfect sacrifice so we do not have to fear the law anymore.  Through our faith in Jesus, our Savior the law is written in our hearts and we have a desire to fulfill it through the Holy Spirit.  We cannot fulfill the law perfectly only Jesus could. We can Love, accept, and forgive ourselves and others because of Him and through Jesus we can forget what lies behind and press forward to His upward calling.

Yesterday, I was working at the Fire House.  I was tiered and disappointed with myself.  Someone brought in cookies as for our crew.  The cookies tasted great!  I had made a rule for myself to only eat one normal size treat per day.  I consumed at least six cookies and a bit of ice cream, plus chips.

Today, I am starting fresh!  I am committed to doing what I know He wants me to do, to be my best me.  Not because of the law, but because I love Him and it is a way for me to honor Him and treat my body as His temple.

Mathew 21:22  “And all things, whatsoever ye shall ask in prayer, believing, ye shall receive.”

Be fit and be blessed,

Lent Wellness Challenge Day 28

Lent Wellness Challenge day 28
TRIGGERS

Triggers are things that trigger a behavior in us.  Tonight as I was eating my half-cup of ice cream, I started craving a second half-cup and I hadn’t even finished my serving!  The trigger for me was taking bigger bites and eating my ice cream while “in the middle of stuff” Thank God I had an AH HAA moment.    I realized, when I sit down and enjoy each bite of my food, after I took the time to put it in a serving dish then I am more likely to feel satisfied when I am done with my serving.  So,  for me a trigger to over eat is using big bites and eating while I am doing something else.

I personally have a lot of triggers that can throw me into mindless munching.  What are your triggers?  How can you conquer them?

Mathew 12:33 “Either make the tree good, and his fruit good; or else make the tree corrupt, an his fruit corrupt: for the tree is known by his fruit.”

Lent Wellness Challenge Day 27

Lent Wellness Challenge Day 27
Good Morning,

Yesterday’s note to help us be inspired to avoid compromise may have seemed a bit extreme.  Yet if we open the door for negative defeated thinking it can start to bull dose our lives.

Our thoughts are within our control.  We get random crazy thoughts at times.  Thoughts of self-defeat, jealousy, anger, hatred, hopelessness and unforgiveness can snowball into destroying our day and our lives.  Often these destructive thoughts are pointed toward ourselves and those closest to us.  These types of thoughts are crazy and not rational.  We are children of God.  Jesus died to free us from our sins.  We are washed clean.  Our sins have been taken away form us and removed as far as the east is from the west.  When we think toward the negative it is the opposite of Faith.  Each of us has within ourselves the ability to redirect our thoughts.  Just as a baby can go from hysteria to joy in an instant so can we.

Basic behavioral science shows us that;

1 thought + 1 thought  + 1 thought = feeling
Feeling + 1 thought = action

Jesus teaches us that we are to Love others and ourselves as He loves us.  With His love we treat ourselves well and be able to honor our bodies as His temples.  Thoughts that are not loving in nature are not of God.

Today, let’s ask ourselves are we in loving faith?

James 1:13 “Let no man say when he is tempted, I am tempted of God: for God cannot be tempted with evil neither He temptith any man.”

Lent Wellness Challenge Day 26

Lent Wellness Challenge Day 26

A little compromise in our commitments and pretty soon we can be back to the same old same old.  It is easy to think a little bit won’t matter.  When we let a little bit of compromise in we are opening the door for more.  If we baked a pan of brownies and just put a little bit of cow manure in them, we would not eat the brownies.  Yet we allow ourselves a little more food then we need to eat, a little less exercise then we need, a little envy, a little gossip.  Is it really all that much different then a little cow manure?

Today if we are tempted to say, “It won’t matter, it is just little compromise.”  Let’s stay on track, put on His armor and be determined to be all He has called us to be for the remaining of this Lent challenge!  No matter how many times we have failed it is over.  We have this moment to succeed.

John 8:34-36  “Jesus answered them,Verily, verily, I say unto you, whosoever committeth sin is the servant of sin.  And the servant abideth not in the house for ever: but the Son abideth ever.  If the Son therefore shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed. KJV

Be fit and be blessed,

1 Peter 5:7  “ Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you.”

Jeremiah 29:11   “ For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the LORD, thoughts of peace, am dot of evil, to give you an expected end.

Sleep and rest are very important to our overall health.  We need our sleep, 8-10 hours a day in a dark, quiet environment.  Sleep is best when uninterrupted and at regular times and in a regular bed.  The average person who is sleeping deprived tends to be 25 pounds or more over weight.   Literally when we do not get enough good quality sleep we release hormones in our body that tell us we are hungry and can’t get full.  Most of us understand this because we grab high calorie foods when we are tired to help us perk up regardless of how this effects our health..

Sometimes we are tiered and cannot go to sleep.  Rest is sleep but it is also being able to sit quietly and relax.   We can recharge ourselves by simply sitting quietly and relaxing.   It can be difficult to sit quietly and relax especially when we are busy and have much to do.   One to five minutes of relaxing can make a big difference in our day!  When we take time to be quiet we are able to take the time to reconnect with God.  During this time we can call on Him for renewed strength and energy. We can trust in Him we can find rest.

How do you fit in the time to be quiet?

Be fit and be blessed,

Kimberly

Lent challenge day 24

Lent Wellness Challenge Day 24
STRENGTH . ENDURANCE . FLEXIBILITY .

In our physical bodies we need all three of these for optimal physical conditioning.

Flexibility is increased in our bodies by stretching.  We need to be able to have full range of motion around our joints to have optimal performance.  Stretching can be done everyday.  There are many different ways to stretch.   Many people ignore stretching.  When they do their chance for injury goes up.  Today lets be encouraged to increase our flexibility through stretching.

In our spiritual and mental aspects of life we too have to be flexible.  We need to stretch ourselves to do what He calls us to do.  When we are actively pursuing a new healthful life style it can be a stretch for us.  It can be painful to give up old ways.  Ultimately when we listen to the upward call of God and do what we need to do we will avoid getting injured in the long run.  Even Jesus was stretched:

Luke 22:42 “Saying, Father, if thou be willing, remove this cup from me: nevertheless not my will, but Thine be done,”

Be fit and be blessed,

*****Yesterday the phone conference did not happen.  I apologize; I lost my keys at Wal-Mart and started our meeting late.  I tried to get on the teleconference at 3:40 and then nixed the idea.  I will try again next week.  Please let me know if you are interested in this option.*********
