Fit Bit (Avoid what makes your Brother stumble)
This morning I was reading Romans 14& 15.
Romans 14:19-21
“Let us therefore make every effort to do what leads to peace and to
mutual edification. 20Do not destroy the
work of God for the sake of food. All
food is clean, but it is wrong for a man to eat anything that causes someone
else to stumble. 21It is better not to
eat meat or drink wine or to do anything else that will cause your brother to
fall.”
Recently I invited family to my lake home. In our family we have many people that have
issues with alcohol. Therefore it is
best to provide alcohol free environments so everyone can be safe. The leader
of this family event provided huge amounts of alcohol. I was appalled at the volume of booze. Many were “wasted” by the evening of the
first day. One person, who stopped by
for a visit and had been clean for about 3 months, fell “off the wagon”. I
understand that many people do not feel they have an issue with alcohol,
especially if they are still functioning in society. Yet, drunkenness is a problem regardless of
how functional one may be. I hope this
story inspires you at your next event to consider those who need alcohol free
environments to be safe. Do you really
need to provide alcohol or food that will make your brother stumble at your
family gatherings?
Be fit and be blessed,
Kimberly
