Question:
My group at the office is doing some lame exercises at lunch I join them on occasion. Their workouts are not very effective. It is hardly worth it. What do you suggest instead?
ANNswer:
I like that you have a group to do things with. Lunchtime workouts are a great idea! It is nice to have intense workouts, but consistency of exercise is more important then intensity. I suggest that you first work on consistency. Your office group will help you with that. After you have established a routine for 3-6 weeks then you can suggest to your group a variation to the workouts once a week. It is important to have your exercise routine be doable and enjoyable. I am happy to meet with your lunch bunch to help you come up with more effective lunchtime routines. I also suggest your lunch bunch help each other with good nutritional choices too.

ReplyDeleteEven if the exercises are a bit "lame" at least it is a start. I am now retired, but when i worked, I did several walking lunches, even though I only had a half an hour for lunch. Walking is very good exercise, is not really that intense, it is a great stress reliever, offers a chance for comaraderie among your co-workers, and you go back to work with much more vigor. You onloy need an extra pair of tennis shoes under your desk and your ready to go!
