Fit Bit (The Lord will Sustain You!)
I recently returned home from the BIrkie. I did ski the entire 55k!! I think that is
way cool since I had complete, double knee replacements 10 weeks earlier.
The first half of my race went a little slow. I was expecting slow. I had three significant surgeries last year
and not much training time. At the half
-way point I discovered I had a chance to break six hours for the event. One of my friends believed I could do it, but
until that moment I didn’t think it was possible. With a renewed energy I started the second
half of my race. I knew the timing was
close so, I didn’t want to take too much time fueling. On a race of 55k you need to eat and hydrate
so I had to find a good balance.
Then I remembered the verse that said, “I will sustain
thee”. I still took on food and water at
the aid stations but instead of worrying about getting extra, I remembered that
God can and will sustain me. I finished
the race at 5:47. My first half was
about three hours so I picked up speed on the second half as I relied On our
Lord and thanked Him for every K I finished.
Psalm 55:22 “ Cast thy burden upon the LORD, and He shall
sustain thee; He shall never suffer the righteous to be moved.”
Habakkuk 3:19 “The
Lord is my strength, and He will make my feet like hinds feet, and He will make
me to walk upon high places. To the chief singer on my stringed instruments.”
These verses help me.
During the race I thought of God’s words and remembered His strength is
where mine come from.
This life we live is
much more difficult then any 55k ski race.
Today be encouraged to that our Lord will sustain you, no matter how
difficult your race seems.
Be fit and be blessed,
Kimberly
