FIt Bit ( ENdurance and Encouragement)

Fit Bit (Endurance and Encouragement)
Recently I participated in a Triathlon.  At this event I met and man fully encouraged by his family.  This man had lost 100 pounds and was doing the event.  I told him, that I was very excited for him, regarding his new lifestyle.  He said, his wife had lost 200 pounds.  WOW!!!  I spoke with his wife and she was glad about their life style choice.  She also said, “it is hard”.   I looked at their children, and said, “I imagine it is, but it sure is worth it know this will help you be there for them.”  She agreed.

Life style choices can be hard, especially when they are not the norm.  It’s hard to be a non-drinker in the drinking culture of Wisconsin.  What ever you are going through today.  Be encouraged to keep on keeping on.  Keep doing what is right.  Run your race with endurance!!!

Roman 15:4 “For everything that was written in the past was written to teach us, so that through endurance and the encouragement of the Scriptures we might have hope.”

Fit Bit ( Simply Love)

Fit Bit (Simply Love)
I was walking with someone I love yesterday, and she said to me, “ I don’t get this Holier then Thou attitude Christians have.”

My response was simple, “Christians are not called to be judgmental but are called to simply love others as Jesus Christ loves them.  Anything else is not of the teachings of Christ.”

When I am on track, eating right, exercising, getting good quality sleep and managing my stress in a healthy manner, it is easy for me to shake my head at others and think, “you should do life my way and you would be way better off”.  If I did that to people they would simply reject everything I had to say.  If I want to truly help someone, I simply love them where they are at, and more importantly let them know Jesus loves them 24/7 regardless of their behavior.   Jesus didn’t come, suffer and die to save the righteous but the rest of us.  After all, there is no one righteous, not a single one!!!  Therefore, if you are tempted today, to judge someone remember to take the plank out of your own eye first.

Simply Love…let that be our motto!

“A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.”

Be fit, be blessed and be love,

Kimberly

Fit Bit (Forgiveness is wellness)

Fit Bit (Forgiveness is wellness)

There are some things that I have done in my past that used to haunt me.  I was continuously tormented by my wretched behavior.  I was constantly embarrassed and continually afraid that people may find out about me and shun me.  I needed their approval after all and what if they shunned me?    I tried to satisfy my own tournament by becoming a people pleaser.  I found that no matter how I tried I could not make everyone like me and want to hang out with me.  I became more and more lonely on the inside.  I tried to make up for this by looking awesome on the outside.  I won athletic events; I dressed nice I bought a “show off “ car.  Still the emptiness, despair and shame were so loud I was convinced everyone could see it?  I was so lonely; I really didn’t have any true friends.  I had grown up a Christian, and I prayed to God, but I did not “feel” relief.  I sought comfort in food, alcohol and promiscuity.  The Emptiness and despair became even louder.
Then in my madness I did something even worse then I had ever done before…it was way beyond me.  I had to through in the towel.  I couldn’t try to pretend I was OK.  I was not.  I needed help.  I needed forgiveness.  I cried out to Jesus.  I came to Him with a sincerely repentant heart.  He filled me with His Holy Spirit and gave me a new heart.  I accepted the forgiveness He died to give me.  I embraced that forgiveness so I could forgive myself.
 I still do amazingly stupid things.  I still sin. Now, when I do wrong I try to immediately repent and trust in the forgiveness we all have through Christ’s sacrifice.  This continually relying on Jesus keeps me healthy.  I know not everyone likes me, that’s OK.  I’m good with God, He loves me and He loves you. This is really, all that matters. We all can truly love ourselves, by accepting His forgiveness.  We can all be made truly well. Regardless of how horrible we have been.

John 3:16  “For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten son, that whosoever believeth on Him shall not perish, but have life eternal.”

Romans 3:22-25  “22 This righteousness is given through faith in Jesus Christ to all who believe. There is no difference between Jew and Gentile, 23 for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, 24 and all are justified freely by his grace through the redemption that came by Christ Jesus. 25 God presented Christ as a sacrifice of atonement, through the shedding of his blood—to be received by faith.”

Fit Bit (Stand Strong)

Fit Bit (Stand Strong)
Indecision is one of my worse sins.  I try to make good decisions based on God’s word.  Yet, in the midst of my ordinary day, I often rely on my own thoughts and feelings and forget to pray and trust God.  I consider myself a “plugged in” Christian, but still I behave like this.  I think it is difficult to be still and stand strong in God.  My over thinking female brain is always coming up with a “better idea”.  How ridiculous!  I pray and look toward God and then do it “my way” any way.  Inevitably I find myself repenting and trying again to be more dedicated to doing what I know God would want me to do.

If you too struggle with indecision, be like Solomon and ask God for discernment.  Ask Him for guidance you then STAND STRONG in His word.

“All you need to say is simply ‘Yes’ or ‘No’; anything beyond this comes from the evil one.”

Psalm 91
 “Whoever dwells in the shelter of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty”.

Fit Bit ( Win,win solutions)

Fit Bit (Win/Win)

Last week we had a blast with four teenage girls and myself at our “Bible Babes” camp, which I ran at my Lake home.  We had many good discussions regarding “Life” issues and had wonderful opportunity to solve problems by consulting the WORD OF GOD.
Here is an example of a Win/Win solution we came up with at our “Bible Babes” camp.

Dilemma;
    One girl likes a boy that her parents do not approve of; she is planning on sneaking around to see him and maybe asking the boy to wait for her until she turns 18. (She is currently 14).

Situation:  This boy has not had good discipline by his parents and has some behavior issues, but is a nice child.  Both children attend a Christian school.

Suggested Solution;
We decided, her parents probably don’t dislike the boy; they dislike his behavior and want her to be safe.  We identified that serious dating at age 14 is not a good idea. We agreed that sneaking around is not the way to go.  Therefore she decided to ask the boy to meet with her parents to figure out how he can “be her friend (not her boy friend)” with their approval.  We decided this is a WIN/WIN solution.

Ephesians 6:1  “Children, obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right.  2 Honor your Father and Mother, which is the first commandment with a promise; 3”that it may be well with you and you may live long on the earth.”  4 And fathers, do not provoke your children to wrath, but bring them up in the training and admonition of the Lord.”

I hope this inspires you to find a WIN/WIN solution to what ever is going on in your life.  The concept of WIN/WIN comes from Steven Coveys’ book “7 Habits of Highly Effective People.”  It is an excellent read.

Kimberly
