Fit Bit ( Lost or Locked?)

Fit Bit (Lost or Locked?)
Recently, I could not find my cats.  I looked high and low and opened all my closet and bedroom doors looking for them.  I called for them throughout my neighborhood.  In the middle of the night I woke up and called outside for them.  They are about 20 years old and mainly inside cats, so I was concerned.  I prayed for their return and trusted God.  Still no cats.

About 30 hours later, I opened the linen closet in my bathroom.  Out came two cats, and I could smell they had been there a while.:)  They were locked not lost.

Have you ever felt Lost or Locked?  Felt like there was no way out?  I have plenty of times. Especially when I was suffering in my alcoholism. I usually feel extremely hopeless when I’m relying on my own solutions.  When I trust in me alone, I am lost and locked.

My poor little kitties needed me to open the door.  I constantly need Jesus to open and close doors for me.

Be encouraged:

Jesus has the key, He can and will open the door.  Call on Him and trust Him.  Read His word, the Bible so you can remember He loves YOU!!  No door is too shut for Him!

Psalm 55:17  “Evening and Morning, and at noon, will I pray, and cry aloud; and He shall hear my voice.”

Be fit and be blessed,

FIt Bit (When the unthinkable happens)

Fit Bit “ Trusting God when the unthinkable happens”
Recently a friend of mine sent me the link at the bottom of this page.   She knows that last Fall my Son was sentenced to prison because he was responsible for his best friends death.  They had been drinking; then entered into a race with the guys they were drinking with.  They lost control of the car and my sons’ friend died upon impact.  I will never forget that night.   I have always considered that my children could die in an accident.  I had never given much thought to them being the cause of the accident that would kill someone else let alone a young man that I admired.

I haven’t written many Fit Bits for a while.  Yet I am holding tight to our Lord Jesus.  My son is too.  I pray for the other family and hope they can find forgiveness in their hearts.  It is the unthinkable.  Yet, to be honest, this is the reality of what can happen to an alcoholic’s child.

Many of you know that I am a grateful, recovering alcoholic.  I quit drinking about 14 years ago.  My children were 12 and 14 at the time.  That means I modeled many poor choices during their formative years.

The Good NEWS:  Jesus.
My sons’ friend professed his faith in Jesus, at my kitchen table the week before he passed.  I am thankful, to know he is in Heaven.  That is our silver lining.  Unfortunately his family is non-believers.

We all have the unthinkable.  Life sometimes doesn’t “feel” fair, or fun.  Jesus said, in John 10:10  “ The thief comes, but to kill steal and destroy, I have come that you may have life, to the full and in abundance.”  This doesn’t say we will not have trouble, It says He will give us life, to the full, even when the enemy is lurking,

Another verse that really helps me is:  Psalm 46:10 “ Be still and know that I am God.”

We are all going through something.  Let JESUS be your ROCK, therefore your abundance.

Be fit and be blessed,

Kimberly

Fit Bit (ALIVE)

Fit Bit (ALIVE)
ALIVE!!!

One of my dear friends is a Christian Comedian.  We teamed up for “Laughs before Lunch”, last Summer.  Her name is Darlene Rholes.  She got everyone laughing and I spoke of keeping the joy of the Lord in your heart…NO MATTER WHAT!

Yesterday Darlene shared with me her acronym for living.  I think it’s a great life philosophy and wanted to share it with you.

ALIVE

A          Attitude, have a healthy, upbeat Christ centered attitude.

L          Laugh, laughter is good medicine.

I           Initiate, don’t wait for someone else to ask you to do, initiate.

V          Volunteer, do unto others, and give of yourself it’s good for your soul.

E          Elevate, lift up others, your kind words will go very far.

When I listened to her explain this acronym, I thought of how I practice my own life and realized I am a little short on laughter.  Her suggestion was to get some Carol Burnette CD’s or some other wholesome comedian CD’s and watch them.    I think I will intentionally look to laughter today.  What about you?  How are you doing on these skills?

Proverbs 17:22 “ A joyful heart is good medicine.”

I hope this acronym helps you too.

Be fit and be blessed,

Kimberly

Fit Bit ( SO this is Christmas)

Fit Bit  ( So this is Christmas)
So this is Christmas!  I hope your Christmas and Christmas Eve were wonderful!!

Merry Christmas!   In some churches (e.g. the Anglican Communion) the season continues until the day before the Epiphany, which is celebrated either on January 6 or on the Sunday between January 2 and 8. (Wikipedia)

If you too recognize Christmas as a season, then you are just beginning to celebrate Christmas and it is not over.  Personally I love the fact my home church celebrates the season.  For me, the shopping, gift exchanging and making cookies are over. Now, I can concentrate even more on celebrating Jesus!!

I challenge you, during this time before the Epiphany to really put Jesus first in your life.  Figure out what that looks like for you and DO IT!

For me, to keep Him first, I try to read the Bible and pray each morning before I do anything else.  This helps me.

I am also trying to celebrate His birth by giving Him, better behavior from me.
My plan is to do better in my struggle areas, for Jesus.  I will try to make it for this short Christmas season and hopefully carry on past that.

Jesus doesn’t require my good behavior to love me.  He died for each of us while we were still sinners, there is nothing we can do that separates us from His love.  (PRAISE GOD!!)  Nonetheless because He loves me I want to love Him back.  I do this by, reading His word, praying often and letting His Holy Spirit guide my every step.  This Holy Spirit guidance is what is motivating me to try to live a better life for Him.

What is His Holy Spirit inspiring you to do?

Be inspired to let go of the behavior you no longer desire and do what you know the Lord is leading you to!

May you be blessed with a very Merry Christmas season and a Joy Filled New Year!!!

Philippians 3:13 “Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended; but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before.”

Fit Bit (Well through the Holy days)

For special events I make a dessert I call “Cherry Surprise”, I call it this because I never know exactly how it will turn out.  I follow a general recipe but not an exact one.

Isn’t that kind of like our Holy Day season?  We have a general idea of what we want to do, but then we just, “wing it”.  I like the “go with the flow” attitude. Yet without a plan, I am tossed, like a wave in the ocean.

When I feel tossed, I am more likely to have destructive behaviors.  Fort me, one destructive behavior is eating too much Cherry surprise.  In order to avoid the “tossed”, I anchor myself in God’s word daily.  If my only plan is to honor Him and let His Holy Spirit guide me then I at least have a starting point.

It’s easy to feel tossed, during the Holidays.  True wellness is being grounded in Jesus Christ during this Holy Day Season.

Yesterday, Someone said to me, “Kimberly, you are looking really good, what is your secret?”  My response was simple;  “It’s Jesus in my heart.”

But let him ask in faith, with no doubting, for he who doubts is like a wave of the sea driven and tossed by the wind
[Cornerstone in Zion ] Therefore thus says the Lord God: “Behold, I lay in Zion a stone for a foundation, A tried stone, a precious cornerstone, a sure foundation; Whoever believes will not act hastily.
Jesus said to them, “Have you never read in the Scriptures: ‘The stone which the builders rejected Has become the chief cornerstone. This was the Lord’s doing, And it is marvelous in our eyes’?

Be fit and be blessed,

Kimberly
