Fit Bit (Stand Strong)

Fit Bit (Stand Strong)
Indecision is one of my worse sins.  I try to make good decisions based on God’s word.  Yet, in the midst of my ordinary day, I often rely on my own thoughts and feelings and forget to pray and trust God.  I consider myself a “plugged in” Christian, but still I behave like this.  I think it is difficult to be still and stand strong in God.  My over thinking female brain is always coming up with a “better idea”.  How ridiculous!  I pray and look toward God and then do it “my way” any way.  Inevitably I find myself repenting and trying again to be more dedicated to doing what I know God would want me to do.

If you too struggle with indecision, be like Solomon and ask God for discernment.  Ask Him for guidance you then STAND STRONG in His word.

“All you need to say is simply ‘Yes’ or ‘No’; anything beyond this comes from the evil one.”

Psalm 91
“Whoever dwells in the shelter of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty”.

Fit Bit ( Win,win solutions)

Fit Bit (Win/Win)

Last week we had a blast with four teenage girls and myself at our “Bible Babes” camp, which I ran at my Lake home.  We had many good discussions regarding “Life” issues and had wonderful opportunity to solve problems by consulting the WORD OF GOD.
Here is an example of a Win/Win solution we came up with at our “Bible Babes” camp.

Dilemma;
One girl likes a boy that her parents do not approve of; she is planning on sneaking around to see him and maybe asking the boy to wait for her until she turns 18. (She is currently 14).

Situation:  This boy has not had good discipline by his parents and has some behavior issues, but is a nice child.  Both children attend a Christian school.

Suggested Solution;
We decided, her parents probably don’t dislike the boy; they dislike his behavior and want her to be safe.  We identified that serious dating at age 14 is not a good idea. We agreed that sneaking around is not the way to go.  Therefore she decided to ask the boy to meet with her parents to figure out how he can “be her friend (not her boy friend)” with their approval.  We decided this is a WIN/WIN solution.

Ephesians 6:1  “Children, obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right.  2 Honor your Father and Mother, which is the first commandment with a promise; 3”that it may be well with you and you may live long on the earth.”  4 And fathers, do not provoke your children to wrath, but bring them up in the training and admonition of the Lord.”

I hope this inspires you to find a WIN/WIN solution to what ever is going on in your life.  The concept of WIN/WIN comes from Steven Coveys’ book “7 Habits of Highly Effective People.”  It is an excellent read.

Be fit and be blessed,

Kimberly

Fit Bit (love a bully)

Fit Bit (Love a Bully)
Yesterday, I spoke with a woman who obviously was thinking I was a bit nuts to be in my sons corner considering how he swears and treats me with such disrespect.  I supposed it does seem to be a bit crazy to the outside world looking in.  What I know is hurting people lash out at others, especially those who are closest to them, those they can trust the most.  I know the pain my child suffers with.  I know the frustration in his head and in his heart.  I am trying my best to be a Godly mom.  I am trying to love him with a Christ type love.  He is responding in kind.

In my small town, we have a campaign,   “NO BULLYING IN OUR TOWN” How stupid.
In my opinion that is bullying the bully.  The bully is already hurting; I think the campaign should be, “LOVE A BULLY TODAY!”

I believe it is our jobs as Christians to love people regardless of their circumstances.  I think the people stricken with mental disease; alcoholism, divorce, drugs or abuse can be greatly helped by us loving them without judging them.

How do you love the seemingly unlovable?

1.     Pray for them. (Ask God, to let them truly understand how valuable they are to Him and that they may believe that Jesus loved them so much He died for them.)
2.     Lead them by example.
3.     Treat them with love respect and kindness.
4.     Find things you like about them and tell them.
5.     Always have a smile for them.

I am not advocating taking abuse from others.  There are many instances where a person must leave a relationship to be safe.  I am just saying that if someone is lashing out at you, chances are they are hurting and it has nothing to do with you.

John 3:16  “ God, so loved the world (including the bully) that He gave his only begotten son, that whosoever believeth in Him, shall not perish, but have everlasting life.”
Proverbs 10:11-12  “The mouth of the righteous is a well of life, but violence covers the mouth of the wicked.  12 Hatred stirs up strife, But love covers all sins.”

Be fit and be blessed,

Kimberly

Fit Bit ( Beautiful Day)

Fit Bit (It’s a Beautiful Day!)
Yesterday, I made special arrangements to spend the day with my son. I turned down overtime, canceled plans with friends and drove 5 hours to see him.  Yesterday was the only day he had off work this week. The weather was cold and rainy; we made the best of it.  It became a beautiful day!  We talked, golfed, tandem bicycled and had a friend for dinner. Seeing the Northern Lights topped off the day.  It was an amazing day!!  A beautiful day!!

I thank God for yesterday and I thank Him for today.  The awesome thing is that today too, is the day the Lord has made, I have the opportunity to rejoice and be glad in it after all, it is going to be a beautiful day.

Yesterday, we had every reason to stay in and not do outdoor things, yet because of the scarifies made to spend time together, we pushed through the weather.  I am very glad we did. It was worth it!!

How many times I have let circumstances like weather or my laziness wreck my day.  What about you?  Today be inspired that regardless of the circumstances find joy and beauty.  After all, whatever the worries, God has got it and nothing is impossible with Him.

Jesus looked at them and said, “With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.”

Be fit and be blessed,

Kimberly

Fit Bit (Garbage in?)

Fit Bit (Garbage in?)

When I entered the gym today,  I saw a quote posted, “Life is not formed by good art, it is formed by bad television.”

Mar 5, 2014 New York Daily News
Children aged 2-11 watch over 24 hours of TV per week, while adults aged 35-49 watch more than 33 hours, according to data from Nielsen that suggests TV time increases the older we get. The average American watches more than five hours of live television every day.
April 4,2013 Religious News Service
More than half of Americans think the Bible has too little influence on a culture they see in moral decline, yet only one in five Americans read the Bible on a regular basis, according to a new survey.
More than three-quarters of Americans (77 percent) think the nation’s morality is headed downhill, according to a new survey from American Bible Society.
The survey showed the Bible is still firmly rooted in American soil: 88 percent of respondents said they own a Bible, 80 percent think the Bible is sacred, 61 percent wish they read the Bible more, and the average household has 4.4 Bibles.

James 1:5  “If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask it of God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you.”

My people are destroyed from lack of knowledge. “Because you have rejected knowledge, I also reject you as my priests; because you have ignored the law of your God, I also will ignore your children.

In order for me to stay strong in God’s word, I try to read the Bible daily, listen to Christian radio, fellowship with other Christians and attend my home church services regularly.  I fall short on the entire above, but if I keep on keeping on, it helps me have my head knowledge on God. I have noticed where my head knowledge is my heart follows.

Bottom line: I stay strong, through the powerful gift of Jesus.  I remember to keep Him first by intentionally feeding myself His word.

I hope this message inspires you to turn off the TV and pick up the Bible!!

Be fit and be blessed,

Kimberly
