2 Peter 2:19 “They promise them freedom, while they themselves are slaves of depravity- for a man is a slave to whatever has mastered him.”
2 Peter 1:5 “ For this reason, make every effort to add to your faith goodness; and to goodness, knowledge, 6 and to knowledge, self-control; And to self-control, perseverance; and to perseverance, godliness; 7 and to godliness, brotherly kindness; and to brotherly kindness, love.”
When I was deep in the pit of my alcoholism, I was a slave to it. We can desire sinful lusts over spiritual discipline even when we call ourselves “Christians”. For me, my sinful desires can become obsessions. If sin wasn’t pleasurable we wouldn’t do it!! Sin can be pleasurable in the moment. Yet, it always leads to death! For me to stop an embraced sin, I have to intentionally repent from it and actively embrace holy, healthy, happy behaviors. ( Examples; Don’t drink, go to an AA meeting. Flush the chocolate and go for a walk ). The only way for me to get out of the pit is to recognize my hearts desire is not of Godliness and repent. I have to intentionally pursue Christ. and follow His direction. When I focus on the behavior I want to stop, my desire for it grows. I have to pursue what is right not just avoid what is wrong. I hope this helps you today pursue things that will help you not harm you. God has equipped each of us, with everything we need, to do good! ๐๐❤️
