    Today is my 8^th birthday. 

It was eight years ago today that I did not pick up a drink when the craving hit.  I spent the next three days in bed with the shakes, sweats and delirium.  I had just been pulled over for driving intoxicated with my children in the car.  I woke up this morning eight years ago realizing that if I did not quit drinking I would loose everything that was dear to me, once and for all.  I had already given my life to Christ; I had told everyone that I had quit drinking.   I was relapsing.   My life was spinning far out of balance I did not want to tell anyone, I was embarrassed, I had already told people I was a Christian.  .  Each day I was living a lie.  8 years ago today, I decided to walk in truth regardless of how difficult it would be.  Not because I really wanted to quit drinking, I didn’t.  I wanted God to make me a normal drinker.  I quit this day because I knew   drinking had become my God.  I threw in the towel.  I decided to do what ever it took to stay away from the booze.  I got serious about my recovery.  I sought counseling and I did what the professionals told me to do.  It was the most humbling experience in my life.

The first time I quit drinking I was 13 years old.  Eight years ago, I was 42.  I have been a Christian my entire life.  It’s hard to admit, as a Christian, I still struggle with horrible behavior.  When drinking was my secret, it kept me sick.  Now that I have accepted the forgiveness through Jesus Christ, I know I am a beautiful child of God, alcoholic or not.  This does not let me drink.  It (He) gives me freedom from drinking. 

John 11:25-26  “Jesus said unto her,  “I am the resurrection, and the life; he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live, 26 And whosoever liveth and believeth in me shall never die, Believeth thou this?”

Today is my Birthday, is it your birthday too?

  Are you struggling with alcoholism, co-dependency, eating disorders, anxiety, depression etc.…?  Jesus Christ is the great healer.  Let today be your birthday.

My story is not an immediate release from my sin; it’s one of endurance and continued attempts to try to live a life more pleasing to God.  My life theme is “keep on keeping on”.  I sincerely hope that I have taken my last drink of alcohol.  I do know that regardless of how many times I fall, Jesus loves me!   He loves you too.

What about you?

What sin are you struggling with?  God is with you.  He will never leave you nor forsake you.  Keep on Keeping on! 

He is with you.

Dear Kimberly,

He likes me back!  He like me back!!  I am so excited …He likes me back!

There is one problem though…. he is still legally married.  He says that they have already been apart for a year.  The divorce should have been final already, but it got held up.  I am so excited about him; he has so many of the qualities I’m looking for.  I haven’t felt excited about someone in such a long time.  I’m uneasy about it because he is married.  Some of my friend say, so what.  Go for it.  In my heart all I can think about is…He is still married.  What should I do?

Dear He likes up back,

     RUN!  Married is married.  I know that it is exciting to have someone pay attention to you.  It is alluring.  Looking for a mate is a difficult process.  Your Heavenly Father does not want you to settle.   If you walk in this sin, you may never know the blessing God has waiting for you “He will supply your every need.”  God’s timing is not our timing.  Be patient and wait on God.   That uneasy feeling you are having   about this man, is the Holy Spirit saying, “ STOP! It’s wrong! “ God’s commands are very clear.  He does not approve of adultery.   Don’t fool yourself into thinking separated is divorced.  You know better, otherwise you wouldn’t have written me.  The friends, who have counseled you to give this guy a try, are not giving you Christian counsel.  It is difficult to wait on God.  Yet, when we wait and walk patiently in His ways, we feel His peace in our hearts.  Ask God to forgive you, for your adulterous thoughts.   Accept the forgiveness Jesus died to give you.  Go and sin no more. Know that,

    God always likes you back!!!

1 Peter 3:17  “For it is better, if it is the will of God, to suffer for doing food that for doing evil.”

MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!

In today’s world, many people are wishing each other Happy Holidays.  Now, you and I know that means Holy days.  The truth is that phrase has become the politically correct way to take Christ out of Christmas!

Be bold in your walk with the Lord!!  Wish those strangers you meet a MERRY CHRISTMAS!!  Do not be timid in your faith.  Be bold in the Lord!!!  I have noticed when I wish people a Merry Christmas genuine warmth comes over their face and they smile and wish me a Merry Christmas too.  Today see how many people you can share His love with…Whish them a Merry Christmas!!!

Mathew 28:10  “Then Jesus said to them,  “Do not be afraid, Go and tell My brethren to go to Galilee, and there they will see Me.”

Mathew 28:19  “Go therefore, and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. 20 teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always even to the end of the age.”  Amen

Mark 14:30  “Jesus said to him, “Assuredly, I say to you that today, even this night, before the roster crows twice, you will deny Me three times.”

 Ask yourself; are you so worried that you will not offend a stranger that you deny God?

The Perfect Gift!)

My dear friend just gave me the perfect gift, a Christmas Angel ornament with the word GRACE prominent on her garment.  Those of you, who know me, understand how perfect that is for me.  Yet as perfect as that is, the true perfect gift is the child who was born this season, some two thousand years ago. 

Today, I felt a pain in the center of my right hand.  The pain reminded me of the great pain and punishment this glorious child went through for you and me.  Because of Him, His perfect gift, we no longer have to suffer.  Sure this world is tough.  But if we are losing hope it is because we have forgotten His perfect gift.  He came that we may have life and have it to the full.   So if you find yourself suffering with guilt, shame, anxiety depression, gluttony, drunkenness etc.…Remember you have been given the Perfect gift!!!  Take His promise and Give Him your pain.  This is the great exchange!!!  This is the perfect Gift!

    This Holy season, do you know someone who is suffering?  Maybe that suffering person is you.  Jesus Christ is the perfect gift.  He loves you and me and will never let us go.  No matter how many times we walk away from Him, He welcomes us back, with open arms, helps us up, forgives us and gives us a fresh start.   Walk in and share His perfect gift!

    I’m stressed out with the Holidays.  I am already worried about life and now, I don’t have the money or calories to spend on Christmas.  Where do I start?  I can’t handle this stress.

Stressed out for the Holidays

Dear Stressed out,

This is a wonderful time of year.  We are celebrating Our Dear Saviors birth.  Start with remembering that.  This season is not about spending or over eating it is about love. 

John 3:16  “ For God so loved the world that He gave His only Son, that whoever believe in Him shall not perish but have eternal life.”

Holy for the Holidays (3)

In peace I will lie down and sleep, for You alone, O Lord will keep me safe.  (Ps.4:8)

This is the time of year so many of us are starting to worry and fret over so many different things.  This incisive worry leads to an inability to sleep.  Without proper sleep we cannot reset our body clock.  We start to run on empty filling ourselves with all the wrong things.  God did not come that we should live in the spirit of fear and worry.  He came that we may have life and have it to the full in abundance.

John 10:10  “The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy;  I have come that they may have life and have it to the full.”

WHEN YOU ARE TEMPTED TO GET INTO WORRY AND FEAR, slow down…. pray, trust God!!!This season we are celebrating the Birth of our Savior Jesus Christ.    Let us cast our cares upon Him and leave them there, AT HIS FEET. 

Peter 5:7  “Cast all your anxiety on Him, for He cares for you.”

During the hustle and bustle of this season, don’t skimp on your sleep.  You need enough good quality sleep every night in order to keep your head on straight.  Trusting God and believing His word will help you rest and enjoy this Holy season.

A Prayer to share: 

Heavenly Father,

     Unrest, is ever present,

 Let me not get caught up spending too much money or eating too much food.

Let me get caught up in remembering how much you love my family, our country, and me and how you are ever present.

Let me spread you’re your love today and each day throughout this world.

Please protect our country, Help this world know your peace.
