Old
Testament; Job 30:1-32:22
Job recounts his life and searches
for what he has done against God, he lists the many things most people do as
sin, such as having his heart be incited by a woman, or being jealous of his
neighbor. Yet he has done now of these
sins.
Life lesson; in today’s world lust,
and envy are encouraged. There is a
whole marketing philosophy built on it.
These seemingly “small” sins are acceptable as normal behavior. Ask yourself; do I strive to meet God’s
standard or the world’s?
New Testament; Mathew 22:15-46
22:37 Jesus replied, “Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all
your soul and with all your mind. 38 This is the first and greatest
commandment. 39 and the second is like
it; Love your neighbor as yourself. 40
All the Law of the Prophets hang on these two commandments.”
Life lesson; Lord may we each, love
with pure hearts today and each day, as we move forward.
Psalm 18:16-24
“16 He reached down from on
high and took hold of me; he drew me out of deep waters. 17He rescued me from my powerful enemy, from
my foes who were to strong for me.”
Kimberly’s comment;
This reminds me of being rescued
from my alcoholism, without God and the powerful gift of Jesus, I would still
be a broken mess, if alive at all.
24 “The Lord has rewarded m
according to my righteousness, according to the cleanness of my hands in His
sight.”
Kimberly’s comment;
Even though, my behavior is far
better then it used to be and God has truly blessed me, I know everything I am
and have is because of what he has done for me.
I have a hard time thinking of myself as righteous, because I know the
thoughts, feelings and behaviors that still plague me. I am so thankful for the forgiving power of
Jesus!!!
