Fit Bit ( exercise and weight gain)

Fit Bit (exercise and weight gain)
Question:  I started exercising this year while doing the healthy and well challenge.  I am not loosing weight; in fact I have gained a little.  I feel better.  Have I gained weight due to muscle?

ANNswer:  You could be gaining muscle and loosing fat.  Muscle does weigh more then fat.  The important issue here is:  You feel better!  That alone makes me want to give you a big high five!  When people are getting into better shape and loosing fat, often they do not see it immediately on the scale.  It is important to realize improvements to our health in more ways then measuring it on the scale.

Here is a word of caution, when people start an exercise program they often forget to increase the amount of water they drink.  Some start drinking high calorie sport and protein drinks.  Exercising, typically only burns 400-700 calories in an hour.  One sports drink can equal this amount.  Make sure you are hydrating with water.  Many people who start an exercise program feel hungrier too. Thirst is often mistaken as hunger.   Along with your exercise regime, make sure you are drinking plenty of water.  Even if you don’t exercise you still need 64 oz. of water a day. (Unless you have a medical condition prohibiting this.)  Drinking plenty of water daily adds to good health and wellness.  Staying well hydrated will help you manage your weight and is an essential part of an exercise regime.

John 7:37-38  “ In the last day, that great day of the feast, Jesus stood ad cried, saying,  “If any man thirst, let him come unto me, and drink. (38) He that believeth on me, as the scripture hath said, out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water.

Be fit and be blessed,

Kimberly
