Proverbs 11:2 “When pride comes, then comes disgrace, but with humility comes wisdom.” Pride kept me from step one at AA. I had a tuff time with powerless and unmanageable. It was hard for me to " let go " of the illusion that I could be a normal drinker. I have other illusions in my life that my pride wants me to hold unto.
True wisdom is the fear of the Lord. Recognize when you are in pride doing life "your way" and turn to Letting God be God, humbling yourself to His way.
