Fit Bit (Work/Love what you do)

Fit Bit (Work/Love what you do)
25 years ago today, was my first day at the Madison Fire Department.
Wow!!  I have had an amazing career.  I have been paid well and regularly for being nice and helping people who are having a really bad day.

The people I work with make all the difference.  I work with some wonderful men and women.  I have truly been blessed.  I look forward to going to work.  I love what I do.  There is an old saying, “If you love what you do, you will never have to work an other day in your life.”   Most of our waking hours are spent at work. To be a healthy person, we need to choose to enjoy the tasks we have before us.  Not everything I do at the Fire Department is fun, yet I choose to love it regardless.  I believe this attitude of gratitude, thankfulness and appreciation has contributed to me loving my career.

Today ask yourself, “Do I have the right attitude toward my work?”   If not ask God to help you think about thing differently.

Colossians 3:23 “Whatsoever ye do, do it heartily, as to the Lord, and not unto men;
Proverbs 23:7  “For as he thinketh in his heart, so is he;

Be fit and be blessed,

Kimberly

Fit Bit ( What's important)

Fit Bit (What’s Important)
It seems to me that I have been amazingly busy, for the past few years.  I’m trying to figure out why.  My friends tell me its because I have too many things going on.  That could be true.  Yet in the past few years I have made sure that I am present when I am in my relationships.  I have limited time, so what I do with it is extremely important.  When I was less, busy, I had lots of time for hours of exercise and if my relationships threatened that time, I would simply blow them off until I had my fix in.  Currently, I try to put my relationships first and truly be with the people I am spending time with.  I have noticed that this is improving the quality of my life far more then over exercising ever did.  My most important relationship I have is with our Lord Jesus.  When I put Him first, He guides me on how to truly be a good friend and mother.  I am thankful that I have figured out what is important.  Have you?

Mathew 6:33 “Seek ye first the kingdom of God and His righteousness and all these things will be added unto you.”

Be fit and be blessed,

Kimberly

It seems easy to “blow off” time with God, or the people we love and trust the most, because we are too busy.  We are all busy, yet none of us can afford to “blow off” what matters most.

Fit Bit (Relationships:Dating)

Fit Bit  (Relationships/dating)
It has been a bit over a year since I lost my dearest friend Frank.  He was a World War II Navy Vet, a wonderful man.  If Frank would have bee about 40 years younger I would have married him in a heartbeat.  I spent a lot of time with my friend Frank, and didn’t date much while he was alive.  Now that I have been dating a bit, I really miss my dear friend.  He was a man who cherished me and wanted only for my best, and I deeply respected him.  As I date, in today’s world that is something I am not finding.  I am finding that many people are living for the moment.  “Let’s just have fun”, is the theme for dating today.  I do agree that we should have fun, but when fun crosses the line to casual sexual innuendos, and heavy flirty then for me it is not fun but a heavy burden.

The reason I share this story is to encourage any of you reading this to wait on God.  Don’t rush things.  Don’t compromise your convictions for a few moments of fun.  (Look at the story of David and Bathsheba)  Dating is a chance for you to get to know if the person you are interested in is someone you will marry.  If this person is not marriage material, then have fun being their plutonic friend.  This isn’t the way of this world, but this is the way of peace with God.  It is difficult to be single in today sexual world.  Be encouraged, we can do all things through Jesus Christ whom strengthens us.  (1Peter 5:7)

James 4:17 “Therefore to him that knoweth to do good, and doeth not, to him it is sin.”

James 4:7 “Submit yourselves therefore to God.   Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.”

(Read all of James 4 today, it really drive this point home)

1 John1: 9  “If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.”

Be fit and be blessed,
