Fit Bit (don't give up)

Fit Bit (Don’t give up)

Many of us wake up and say, “Never again! Today, I’m not going to have______ behavior.”  By noon, we are already reasoning why we cannot achieve such a goal.  By mid-late afternoon, we are right back into our old patterns.

How can we break these chains?

Keep on keeping on!!!

Jesus died for you because you are not perfect.   No one, not one of us is without sin.
Romans 3:23 “For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God.”

He loves us anyway!!!

John 3:16  “ For God so loved the world (That’s You and me!), that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life.”

Take this knowledge and remember you are His beautiful child, regardless of the sin you struggle with!!!

Receive His love, love yourself, and treat yourself with respect and kindness.  This will give you the endurance necessary to keep on keeping on.

You are worthy!  Not because of what you do. But because of what Jesus did for you on the cross.  Keep trying to conquer your beast!  No matter how many times you try and fail, keep trying.  Little by little you will get there.  As you continue to turn your life and actions over to God, your thoughts will be turned to Him and His ways. This will give you the foundation to break your chains.

Hebrews 12:1-3  “Therefore we also, since we are surrounded by a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which so easily ensnares us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us.  2 Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith, who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. 3 For consider Him who endured such hostility from sinners against Himself, lest you become weary and discouraged in your souls.”

Today, keep on keeping on!!!  Don’t give up!!!

Be fit and be blessed,
Kimberly

Fit Bit ( chosing friends)

Fit Bit (Choose your friends wisely)
Dear Kimberly,
I am on a quest to be healthy and well.  I am following your 21- day fitness quest.  I love it!  It really helps me keep God first and remember healthful activities everyday.  My friends think my turning from alcohol and being on a health kick is good.  They just don’t’ do it with me.  They say it’s too hard and they aren’t into the “God thing”.  They tell me I was good before I started all this.  I know I wasn’t good.  How can I get my friends to join me?

Sincerely,
Wanting company

Dear Wanting Company,
It’s time for new friends.  When we turn our lives over to Jesus and try our best to live a healthful, God centered lifestyle we have to get rid of the obstacles that keep us from God, even if they are our friends.

In kindergarten, we are taught to choose good friends that are honest, kind, giving, sharing and have good citizenship.  We are also taught bad friends are those whom lie, steal, cheat, gossip and are selfish.  In kindergarten we learn how to be good friends.

When we are adults we have fewer good friends.  Our lives get busy and we don’t take opportunities to find new friends if the old ones are toxic to us.  There are many people who are trying to live God centered healthful lives.  Fellowship with people who are on your same path or you may find yourself backsliding.  You can find new friends in your church (Small groups Bible studies) your health club, recovery groups and other like-minded events.

To get your current friends to change they first have to want what you have. Continue to try your best to be the person God has called you to be.   You can’t make your friends change.   If they see you prosper they will be enticed.

Living a God centered, health and wellness life style will improve the quality of your life.  The most important piece is to, KEEP GOD FIRST, do not let anything come between your relationship with God, including your earthly friends.

Be fit and be blessed,

Kimberly

Mathew 6:33 “But, seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness and all these things will be added unto you.”

2 Thess. 3:6  “Stay away from all believers who live idle lives and don’t follow the tradition the received from us.”

Fit Bit (can't wait to get off the fast)

Fit Bit (can’t wait to get off the fast!)
Dear Kimberly,

I am fasting desserts and flavored creamer until the election as my fasting and praying.  I was hoping I could keep up this behavior up after Nov. 6th.  I keep thinking about how much I can’t wait to get off this fast.  I am afraid I will go right back to my old habits.  What should I do to help me stay with this life change?

Sincerely,

Can’t wait to get off the fast!

Dear Can’t Wait,

Your mindset on getting off the fast is exactly why diets fail.  If we want to change our lives we have to truly desire that change, long term.
Fasting and praying is powerful.  When we do something with a religious intention it gives us extra incentive.  Yet, if we self- sacrifice for a short time frame without a long term desire to change we are more likely to over indulge when the timeframe is over.  Over indulgence is never pleasing to God.
Maybe you are fasting too much.  Cut back your fasting to giving up flavored creamers.  Cut back on desserts instead of giving them up completely. Chose healthful desserts.  Fast larger portions size too.  An example of this, a serving size of ice cream is only ½ a cup.  During your fast, eat only recommended serving sizes of reduced fat and calorie ice cream, sherbets or frozen yogurts.  You are still practicing self-discipline with prayer.  The difference is you are looking toward a long-term solution to your over indulgences. Practicing self-control is a behavior pleasing to God.

1 Peter 2:12  “For the eyes of the Lord are over the righteous, and His ears are open unto their prayers; but the face of the Lord is against them that do evil.”

Be fit and be blessed,

Kimberly

I am confident God will bless you.

Fit Bit (getting started)

Fit Bit (Getting started)

Dear Kimberly,
I want to start a new fitness program.  What is the first thing I should do?
Sincerely,
Getting started

Dear Getting Started,
The single most important thing you can do for your health is to put your relationship with God as your top priority.

Mathew 6:33 “But, Seek ye first the kingdom of God and His righteousness and all these things will be added unto you.”

In order to be truly “Fit” we have to have our hearts right.  The only way to this state is by accepting Jesus as our Lord and Savior so we may be filled with His Holy Spirit, giving us a relationship with our Heavenly Father, “God”.   When our daily foundation is trusting and accepting Gods’ love, we receive peace in our hearts.  This peace allows us to do the work it takes to be truly healthy and well.  Without His foundation, stress and anxiety will rule our lives and we’ll become out of balance.  Out of balance shows up in over eating, over exercising, over spending worrying etc.…   To get started, commit to a daily Bible study and prayer.  Then throughout your day check in, are you walking in His peace?  If you find yourself walking in anxiety and worry, simple readjust your thoughts and
Be still and know that I He is God.
With His foundation, you will be able to sleep better, and have an internal knowledge that you and your physical body are worth taking care of.   To get started love yourself because He first loved you.  You are His beautiful child.  Take this truth with you moment by moment it will give you His internal motivation.

1 Corinthians 6:19  “What? Know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own?”

Be fit and be blessed,

Kimberly
