Summer Fun (rest-faith-fun)

Summer Fun, Faith and Fitness (fun)
Question:  How do you do it?  How do you stay at peace and rest?

ANNswer:
I trust God in all things.  Every time something happens that is stealing my joy.  I stop and intentionally trust GOD!!  I often quote Romans 8:28 “ “all things work out for good to those whom love God.”  Then I simply trust, practicing faith.  When doubt creeps in, I ask God to help me with my unbelief.  Mark 9:24 “And straight way the father of the child cried out, and said with tears, Lord, I believe: help me with my unbelief.”  In order for me to rest and enjoy my day, I first get my heart right.  This comes from God.  Joy is present when I intentionally trust Him.

Philippians 1:4  “Always in every prayer of mine for you all making request with joy.”

I hope these verses help you with your foundation for fun!

Be fit and be blessed,

Summer Fun , Keep Jesus first!

Summer Fun, Faith and Fitness (faith)
Question:

Kimberly, I have felt close to God before but I do not stay there.  How do you stay there?

ANNswer:

I keep on keeping on!  I used to be on a roller coaster ride with the Lord.  He always loved and cared for me but I only sometimes remembered He was there.  I would push forward in Kimberly’s way and when I was broken I would call on him.  I now try my best to walk the walk everyday, happy or sad.

I keep on keeping on by:
1.     Seek sound pastoral advise
2.     Read the Bible daily
3.     Fellowship with Christian friends. (Women to women, men to men)
4.     Pray continually.
5.     Listen to Christian radio.
6.     Quote scripture.
7.     Forgive myself constantly, because of what Jesus did for me!  Let it Go!

I am able to walk the walk better now then before because my first priority each day is to LOVE GOD!

I hope this helps.

Mathew 6:24 “ No man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other.  Ye can not serve God and Mammon.”

The Daniel Challenge day twelve

The Daniel Challenge Day twelve
“The time of end” is how my Study Bible introduces this chapter.  It is the final chapter in the book of Daniel.  In this chapter, he prophesizes about the end times.  Some shall arise to everlasting life and some to everlasting contempt.  Through Jesus Christ we can arise.  This chapter gives me encouragement to be part of the saved and not the dammed.

The most important things we do here on earth, are for Him.  One of the gifts we have received is our physical body.  If we take care ourselves and love ourselves we are more able to do His work.

How did you do on the Daniel Challenge?
Did you read Daniel daily?
Did you eat more fruits and veggies?
Did you drink more water?

I know that my body is a gift from God. Yet, I can ignore my knowledge and consume five cookies in a day and possibly some ice cream too, even though I am trying to be on the Daniel Challenge.  I know for me it is a continued process.  It is a continued commitment to live a holy, healthy, happy life everyday for His honor. Through His mercy and Grace we have eternal honor.

Daniel 12:2 “And many of them that sleep in the dust of the earth shall awake, some to everlasting life and some to shame and everlasting contempt.”

Keep on Keeping on!!

The Daniel Challenge day eleven

The Daniel Challenge Day eleven

In this chapter I got a bit lost with the wars.  In the notes in my study bible it said that Daniel prophesized this 400 years before it happened down to the detail.

Daniel definitely had God with him.

We too have God with us.  Through Jesus we are washed clean and are given a new heart.  I am trying to turn my heart to loving others and myself with a pure heart.  Yet, I turn back to cookies, ice cream and impatience.  When I am fasting and praying and remembering that I am trying to live a life pleasing to him I feel more empowered.

Daniel 11:32 “ And such as do wickedly against the covenant shall he corrupt by flatteries: but the people that do know their God shall be strong, and do exploits.”

Summer fun- Diligence

Summer Fun, Faith and Fitness (faith)
Question:  I have been trying to eat more fruit, veggies and drink water and I do not see any results on the scale.  I feel good about what I am doing but it just s not working fast enough.  What should I do?

ANNswer:  Have faith; if you keep on doing what you know to be true you will be blessed.  This goes with our food and other areas of our lifestyle.  If you continue to eat a well balanced diet that is lower in calories then you expend then you will loose weight and feel better.  Trust that is true and keep on keeping on, in faith.

Many times we have to keep on keeping on, in the behavior we know God would approve of when others seem to be getting ahead by not.  Have faith!  God is the rewarded of those who diligently seek him.  We might not see am immediate reward but know His hand is on you.

Hebrews 11:6 “But without faith it is impossible to please Him.  For he that cometh to God must believe that he is and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.”

The Daniel Challenge day ten

The Daniel Challenge day ten
Daniel was given his final vision after he practiced much discipline.  Yesterday, I tried to fast unto the Lord all the mindless eating.  I did OK.  How did you do?

Fasting and praying are powerful ways to feel more connected to God.  Today, I will continue on with fasting my mindless eating.  I will feed my body, fruit, veggies, water and healthful sources of protein.  I will still have a treat, but it will be planned and when I eat it I will relax and enjoy it.  Today, I will treat my body as His temple.  Are you with me sister’s?

Daniel 10:3 “I ate no pleasant bread, neither came flesh nor wine in my mouth, neither did I anoint myself at all till three whole weeks were fulfilled.”

The Daniel Challenge day nine

The Daniel Challenge Day nine
There is a lot in this chapter.  What struck me most was even though people know God is real, we people still sin and fall short.  Daniel prayed that God’s wrath would not be against His people but that He would give grace, mercy and forgiveness. Daniel sought God with prayer and fasting.

I have been more aware during our Daniel Challenge of how I fall short on my wellness regimen when I am not planning it. I am thankful for the conviction in my heart to take better care of my physical body.  Today in honor of our Daniel study, when I am tempted to eat food that is not on my wellness plan I will intentionally fast it to the LORD.  Anyone else want to try this today?  When I am tempted to eat things not on my plan I will stop pray and say, “ NO!  I am fasting these foods unto the LORD!”

Daniel 9:3  “And I set my face unto the Lord God, to seek by prayer and supplications, with fasting and sackcloth, and ashes.”

Daniel 9:9 To the Lord our God belong mercies and forgiveness, though we have rebelled against Him:”

The Daniel Challenge day eight

The Daniel Challenge day eight
I am a bit confused on this chapter.  Does anyone have a good take on it?  Daniel was given a vision but he did not even completely understand it.

I sometimes feel that I have been given direction or guidance that I do not completely understand.  When this happens to me I try to make sure it lines up with the word of God and then simply trust God.

I feel that God has put it upon me to treat my body as His temple and inspire others to do the same.  In today’s fast paced world it is easy to fall into pizza, chips and sedentary activities.  Yesterday I was traveling.  I had a salad on the road but pizza when I returned home.  We traveled 7 hours without air-conditioning.  I am keenly aware of my bodies need for water, not soda, water.  It is supposed to be hot again today.  Drink lots of water!

Daniel 8:28 “And I Daniel fainted, and was sick certain days: afterward I rose up, and did the king’s business: and I was astonished at the vision, but none understood it.”

The Daniel Challenge day seven

The Daniel Challenge Day seven
Daniel had a dream.  I had a difficult time understanding this chapter.  At the end of this chapter it is clear to me, a nation that is a follower of God will reign.  I think of our nation and how we were founded on Christian roots.  I hope our nation turns back to God.  I think we can all benefit by us praying for our country.

Fruits and Veggies; I have been falling into the “I can eat chips and junk” mentality.  I am still trying to consume two to three fruits and five to seven servings of veggies and drink water.  I am being good at water because I did not buy anything else to drink.  Today I will only buy the good food; hopefully this will make it easier for me.

How are you all doing?  I haven’t heard much from you.  Remember you can simply hit “respond to all”.

Daniel 7:27 “And the kingdom and dominion, and the greatness of the kingdom under the whole heaven, shall be given to the most High.  Whose kingdom is an everlasting kingdom, and all dominions shall serve and obey him.”

Daniel Challenge day six

The Daniel Challenge Day six

Even though no one could find fault with Daniel a handful of men plotted against him and convinced King Darius to make a decree that Daniel could not honor.  Daniel broke the decree by praying and honoring God three times a day.  The King had Daniel thrown into the Lion’s den.  Daniel survived the night in the den.  He said, God sent and angle to protect him.  The king was happy Daniel survived. He ordered Daniel’s accusers and their families into the Lion’s den and they were crushed into pieces.

Even when we are doing the right thing and trying our best to follow God we will still have people who will not like us.  We can never please all others.  It is most important that we try to please God.  I find when I am trying to live a life pleasing to God, accepting Jesus forgiveness throughout my attempts; I am at peace with myself too.   At peace, I am better able to take care of my physical body.  If I am stressed, trying to be a people pleaser I over eat, under exercise and become sleep deprived.  Today let’s try to walk in the peace of God no matter what our circumstances.

Daniel 6:27 “He delivereth and rescueth and he worketh signs and wonders in heaven and in earth, who hath delivered Daniel from the power of the lions.

Daniel Challenge day five

The Daniel Challenge day five
In Chapter five of the book of Daniel King Belshazzar also fell into the trap of praising false gods.  He was so prideful that in the midst of a military threat he held a banquet.  He was slain.

It is easy to get caught up in our own stuff and ignore what is going on around us.  Recently, I ‘ve focused on care providing yet, I ‘ve ignored my own care.  To have an excellent life we need to be dedicated to God and aware of our situations. And attend to all areas of our lives.  If we focus too much on one thing we may be blind-sided with something else.

Ask yourself, are you letting God guide you in all areas of your life?
Are you well balanced?
Or, are you only listening when it’s convenient?

Daniel 5:20 “But when his heart was lifted up, and his mind hardened in pride, he was depose from his kingly throne, and they took his glory from him:”

Daniel day 4

The Daniel Challenge Day four
In Chapter four, King Nebuchanezzar took credit for his kingdom.  He became prideful.  God cut him down to size.  The king realized that it is God who gives, and then he was restored to wealth.  I think it is difficult to stay humble when things are going extremely well.  I easily remember to call on Jesus when I am stressed but can forget to call on him in times of joy.  How about you?  Do you give God the glory in your life?  Are you able to stay humble?

Daniel 4:37 “Now I Nebuchadnezzar praise and extol and honor the King of heaven, all whose works are truth, and his ways judgment: and those that walk in pride he is able to abase.”

Fruit, Veggies and water how are you fitting them in today?  It is easier to stay on track with a plan.

Be fit and be blessed,

Kimberly

Summer fun Lunch Bunch

Summer Fun, Faith and Fitness (fitness)
Question:
My group at the office is doing some lame exercises at lunch I join them on occasion. Their workouts are not very effective.  It is hardly worth it.  What do you suggest instead?

ANNswer:
I like that you have a group to do things with.  Lunchtime workouts are a great idea!  It is nice to have intense workouts, but consistency of exercise is more important then intensity.  I suggest that you first work on consistency.  Your office group will help you with that.  After you have established a routine for 3-6 weeks then you can suggest to your group a variation to the workouts once a week.  It is important to have your exercise routine be doable and enjoyable.  I am happy to meet with your lunch bunch to help you come up with more effective lunchtime routines.  I also suggest your lunch bunch help each other with good nutritional choices too.

Ecclesiastes 4:12 “And if one prevail against him, two shall with stand him; and a three fold cord is not quickly broken.”

the Daniel Challenge day three

The Daniel Challenge day three
Daniel’s three associates were Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego.  The king built a large golden object and made a decree that all people in the kingdom worship this golden image or be thrown into the fiery furnace.  Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego refused to worship any thing other then their God.  The king had them bound and thrown into the fiery furnace.  When the king looked into the furnace he saw they were loosed and they were untouched by the fire.  He also saw they were accompanied by the Son of God. The king then had them released from the furnace and acknowledged their God as powerful and made a degree that thier God be honored.

Remember, Daniel, Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego all stayed away from the king’s delicacies, ate vegetables and drank water.  I bring this up because we live in a world that is full of compromise.  The more we compromise ourselves the less likely we are to stand up for who we are in Christ.  There are many things out of our control.  We can control the foods we eat, the beverages we consume and our choice to honor God in all we do.

How are you doing on the Daniel Challenge so far?

I have been great at my fruits but a little slack on the water and veggies; today I am back to my bag of broccoli for lunch and water not soda.

Daniel 3:25 “ He answered and said, “Lo I see four men loose, walking in the midst of the fire, and they have no hurt; and the form of the fourth is like the Son of God.””

Daniel Challenge day two

The Daniel Challenge day two
The King could not get his wise men to interrupt his dream.  He could not even remember his dream.  The king was angry and ordered the wise servants to be killed.  Daniel said he could interpret the dream.  He called on his three closest associates, had them pray for him and then God gave him the vision of the kings dream and the wisdom to interpret it.  He did so and the king rewarded Daniel, his associates and praised the God Daniel worshiped.  Our God is the one true God.

In this chapter I think the power of prayer is illustrated.  We need to ask God for help and ask others to pray for us.  Many people have recently lifted me up in prayer and I have benefited greatly.  Today, let’s pray for each other.  There is a great power in prayer.

Remember to eat two to three fruits today, five to seven servings of vegetables and drink water for your main drink.  (Still eat other things but make sure you eat these) Taking care of our bodies and our souls we will have the strength, to continue on, in the upward call, of God.

What are your thoughts?  Please respond to all or post on the blog.  Our success is not about me imparting my wisdom it is us helping each other.

Daniel 2:47 “ The king answered unto Daniel, and said, Of truth it is that your God is a God of gods and a Lord of kings, and a revealer of secrets, seeing thou couldest reveal this secret.”

Daniel Challenge day one

The “Daniel Challenge” Day One
In Chapter one of the book of Daniel, the positive effects of eating vegetables and drinking water are compelling. By the end of the ten days Daniel and his three men appeared better and fatter in the flesh then all the young men who ate the portion of the king’s delicacies and drank the king’s wine.  As for these four young men, God also gave them knowledge, skill in literature and wisdom; and Daniel had understanding is all visions and dreams.  After studying this chapter you will most likely be inspired to eat healthier.

For the Daniel Challenge:

1.    Eat two to three servings of fruit everyday.
2.    Eat five to seven servings of vegetables everyday.
3.    Drink water as your main beverage.
4.    Read a chapter of Daniel each day. (12 chapters)
5.    Email our small group daily or post on the blog your insights.

This “Daniel challenge” is not exactly the way Daniel and his men ate.  I am having us concentrate on consuming these portions of fruit, veggies and drink because I believe in establishing sustainable lifestyle choices and not fad diets.  When we concentrate on what to eat we will be successful.

Daniel 1:20 “And in all matters of wisdom and understanding about which the king examined them, he found them ten times better than all the magicians and astrologers who were in all his realm.

Summer Fun (Daniel Challenge)

Summer Fun, Faith and Fitness (The Daniel Challenge)

Good Monday Morning,

Mondays are great days to get back to the plan!  Summer is not only a time for beer and brats, but also a time for great choices in fresh fruits and vegetables.

Turn to the book of Daniel for motivation to eat more fruits and veggies.

Daniel 1:12-15  “ “Please test your servants for ten days, and let them give us vegetables to eat and water to drink.  13 Then let our appearance be examined before you, and the appearance of the young men who eat the portion of the king’s delicacies; and as you see fit, so deal with your servants.” 14 So he consented with them in this matter, and tested them ten days. 15 And at the end of ten days their features appeared better and fatter in flesh than all the young men who ate the portion of the king’s delicacies.”

Anyone want to take a ten-day challenge?

Try to eat at least two or three servings of fresh fruits everyday and five to seven servings of fresh vegetables.  Drink water for your main beverage.  After ten days evaluate how you feel.

Be fit and be blessed,

Kimberly

Summer Fun,(nutrition)

Summer Fun, Faith and Fitness  (Nutrition)
Here in Wisconsin, during the summer we are known for brats and beer.  Wisconsin is also known for its brandy consumption.  We are the “dairy state”, enjoying snacks such as cheese curds, strings cheese and ice cream.  All this is fun but in excess it will undermine our fitness goals.

This weekend have you planned your food or are you going to fly by the seat of your pants?

If you plan what you are going to eat, drink and snack on, you will be less likely to consume overindulgence.

Tips on what to plan:   http://faithcenteredfitness.com/?110720000000

60 oz. water
2-3 fruits
5-7 veggies
3-4 lean proteins
2-3 fats
2 dairies
3 starches

This weekend let’s enjoy healthful food so we will have more energy to enjoy each other

Haggai 1:6:  Ye have sown much, and bring little; ye eat, but ye have not enough; ye drink, but ye are not filled with drink, ye clothe you, but there is none warm; and he that earneth wages earneth wages to put it into a bag with holes.  7.  Thus saith the Lord of hosts:  Consider your ways.”

Summer Fun, Faith and Fitness (sleep)

Summer Fun, Faith and Fitness (sleep)

The Fourth of July has come and gone.  How are you doing on living a healthy lifestyle this summer?

Ask yourself, is your faith first?  Do you enjoy your life?  Are you treating your body as His temple?

Many times we fall short on our wellness goals because we get tiered.  Often we get tiered simply because we lack sleep.  The average person who is chronically sleep deprived tends to be 25 pounds or more over weight.  As an adult we need 8-10 hours of sleep daily.  If we do not get enough sleep we cannot think straight.  We get more emotional and can react to situations with a defeated attitude., forgetting our faith.  Make sleep a priority in your wellness plan and you will be better equipped to meet you other wellness goals.

Tips for good quality sleep:

1.     Have a regular bedtime.
2.     Establish a bedtime routine.
3.     Sleep in a quiet, dark environment. (No TV or radio for background noise)
4.     If you are struggling falling asleep call on the name of Jesus.
5.     Stay in bed even when you can’t sleep and continue to try to sleep.  Do not get up and go on the computer or watch TV for a while, teach your body  to be quiet for a set schedule.
6.     Avoid caffeine, sugar and alcohol.
7.     Cast your cares for He cares for you.  (1 Peter 5:7)

Proverbs 3:24  “When you lie down, you will not be afraid:  Yes you will lie down and your sleep will be sweet.”

Be fit and be blessed,

Summer Fun July 4th

Summer Fun, Faith and Fitness -July 4th

FREEDOM!!!!

TODAY IS INDEPENDENCE DAY!  MY INDEPENDENCE COMES FROM MY DEPENDENCE ON GOD!

Before I started to walk the walk I was a slave to my addictive behaviors.  I was paralyzed by my guilt and shame.  Even my smallest mistakes,  played in my head over and over again.

John 8:34-36 Jesus answered them, “Verily, verily, I say unto you, Whosoever committeth sin is the servant of sin.
35.  And the servant abideth not in the house forever: but the Son abideth ever.
36.  If the Son therefore shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed.”

Here is my Independence Day prayer:

Father thank you for your love,
Thank you for the forgiveness I receive through Jesus Christ,
Thank you for the guidance of your Holy Spirit.
True freedom starts with the heart.  Your mercy and truth have freed my heart; thank you!

Happy Independence Day!  Be free indeed!

Be fit and be blessed,

Kimberly

Summer Fun, Faith and Fitness

Summer Fun, Faith and Fitness (week 2)
A family that prays together stay together!

This is a phrase we have all heard.  The very core of a family is a husband, wife and God.  A marriage takes three.  With our faith intact, let’s PLAY!

A family that plays together stays together!

It is important that we have fun with each other.  We are to be joyful with each other. This Holiday weekend do you have playtime set up?  Summer time is a great time for us to enjoy outdoor fitness.  Bicycle trips, canoe outings, and backyard croquet or whiffle ball are wonderful fun moments. Swimming or simply enjoying the fresh air are good ways to increase our fitness and can be a fun way to enjoy our relationships.

Mathew 7:16a “Ye shall know them by their fruits.”

Be fit and be blessed,

Kimberly
