Fit Bit (What comes out)
Ephesians
4:29 “Do
not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful
for building others up according to their needs, that it may benefit those who
listen.”
I am a caregiver for
my mother. I love my mom. I want to help her have a good life. She is
aging and unable to manage her own life.
The problem I have is, she wears me out.
She has alcohol-induced dementia, yet doesn’t recognize that alcohol has
destroyed her life. She protects her
“one drink” with everything she has. She
fights me on many things and her words are continually negative. I am trying to be a loving daughter and
provide for her. Yet, I am starting to
feel like it’s too exhausting. I pray,
“Lord, let me not weary in well doing.”
Mainly, when I am with her, it’s her words that bring me down. She continually states how much she hates it
here and how miserable she is. Her
negativity, is life sucking. I pray that
the Lord will fill her with His Holy Spirit and she will radiate the fruits of
His Spirit. So far, this isn’t
happening.
I wonder why it is,
that some people get the fruits of the Spirit and others, simply don’t.
What I know; if we
speak life it helps those around us as well as ourselves. We all have things to complain about. Complaining doesn’t make things better. It only makes things worse. Today, regardless of what happens, focus on
what’s right. We all also have something
good to think of too. Think about how much Jesus loves you, that’s enough!!
