Fit Bit (Win/Win)
Last week we had a blast with four teenage girls and myself
at our “Bible Babes” camp, which I ran at my Lake home. We had many good discussions regarding “Life”
issues and had wonderful opportunity to solve problems by consulting the WORD
OF GOD.
Here is an example of a Win/Win solution we came up with at
our “Bible Babes” camp.
Dilemma;
One girl likes a
boy that her parents do not approve of; she is planning on sneaking around to
see him and maybe asking the boy to wait for her until she turns 18. (She is
currently 14).
Situation: This boy
has not had good discipline by his parents and has some behavior issues, but is
a nice child. Both children attend a
Christian school.
Suggested Solution;
We decided, her parents probably don’t dislike the boy; they
dislike his behavior and want her to be safe.
We identified that serious dating at age 14 is not a good idea. We
agreed that sneaking around is not the way to go. Therefore she decided to ask the boy to meet
with her parents to figure out how he can “be her friend (not her boy friend)”
with their approval. We decided this is
a WIN/WIN solution.
Ephesians 6:1
“Children, obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right. 2 Honor your Father and Mother, which is the
first commandment with a promise; 3”that it may be well with you and you may
live long on the earth.” 4 And fathers,
do not provoke your children to wrath, but bring them up in the training and
admonition of the Lord.”
I hope this inspires you to find a WIN/WIN solution to what
ever is going on in your life. The
concept of WIN/WIN comes from Steven Coveys’ book “7 Habits of Highly Effective
People.” It is an excellent read.
Be fit and be blessed,
Kimberly
