Fit Bit (loveing self is not selfish)

Fit Bit (Loving self first is selfish?)

Dear Kimberly,

You teach, love God, love yourself and love others.  I think loving ourselves should come behind loving others.  Why do you put it ahead?  I think putting it ahead makes us selfish.
Sincerely,
Loving self first is selfish

Dear Loving self first is selfish,

I teach love God, love you and love others in that order so we can be healthy enough to use the love of God inside of us to love others.  Our foundation, our cornerstone needs to be “love God, accept His love and continual forgiveness”.  Without this foundation, we can feel, lonely, afraid and easily susceptible to sin.

Loving our selves is not selfish; it is accepting Gods’ love for us and acting accordingly.  Loving ourselves is taking care of us, eating healthy, exercising, managing our lives in accordance to the Bible.   This is Godly discipline.  When we live in His foundation, we have the ability to love others with a pure heart. This is not selfish it is holy.

Love others, Jesus said, “ This is my commandment, that you love one another, as I have loved you.”  John 15; 12 this is a tall order. We have the ability to love this way, but only if we are walking with God, in the first place.  That is why I teach love God, love your self and love others.

Deuteronomy 6:5 “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your strength.”

2 John 1:9  “Whoever transgresses and does not abide in the doctrine of Christ does not have God.  He who abides in the doctrine of Christ has both the Father and the Son.”

Be fit and be blessed,

Kimberly
