Fit Bit (control the tongue)

Fit Bit (control the tongue)
Question:   Recently, I have been a bit, “out of control”.   Eating many sweets gossiping and complaining, I know better, but I just feel so out of control.  How do I get back on track?

ANNswer:  Pray, read scripture and use your tongue for good.  When you fill yourself with what is good, pure and holy that will permeate your soul and good pure and holy will come out more readily then other behaviors.

  Our tongues can get us into trouble in a couple of ways;

 One, on our tongues we have taste buds.  If we let our taste buds control us instead of controlling them we, over eat for pleasure.  It is not pleasurable to wake up one morning with 20 additional pounds.  Take control over your taste buds!!  You can do this by deciding to enjoy eating foods that are nutritious1 and avoid sugary sweets that can be so addictive.

Two, Our tongues defile us.  Jesus said, “ Not what goes into the mouth defiles a man; but what comes out of the mouth, this defiles him.” (Mathew 15:11) It is easy to run at the mouth, stop it!!!  As a Christian you have the Holy Spirits’ guidance, you know when you are about to enter into gossip or complaining, stop it!!!  Sometimes you may not realize what you are doing but about half way through your sentence you do…stop it, mid sentence! ( It is especially not OK to gossip about our children, husbands or other family members)

This week watch your tongues, don’t’ let garbage in and don’t let garbage out!!

Proverbs 10:16 “The mouth of the righteous is a well of life.  But violence covers the mouth of the wicked.”

James 1:26  “If anyone among you thinks he is religious, and does not bridle his own tongue but deceives his own heart, this one’s religion is useless.”

Be fit and be blessed,

Kimberly
