Bible study Jan. 28

Jan. 28
Old Testament; Job 8:1-10:22
While reading these passages it is very evident that Job is in great despair.  He knows God is all-powerful and can relieve him of his pain and suffering.  He doesn’t understand why he is being punished as a wicked man because he doesn’t know what he did wrong.  Through his pain, he doesn’t curse God; he does however wish he were never born.
Life lesson; Job wishes he was never born.  Yet, his story of suffering and tremendous patience is a beautiful example for the rest of.  Even non-believers have heard the expression, ”You have the patience of Job.”  This reminds me that regardless of how I feel about a situation, God is at work.  We can trust even the worse case scenario will be turned around for His glory.

New Testament; Mathew 19:16-30
The rich young man asked Jesus, “Teacher, what good thing must I do to get eternal life?”   Jesus told him to obey the Commandments, He said, “all these I have kept, what else do I lack?”  21 Jesus answered, “If you want to be perfect, go sell your possessions and give to the poor, and you will have treasures in Heaven.  Then come follow me.”
Life Lesson; This rich young man honestly thought he was without blame.  Jesus wanted him to realize he needed a savior, that no one is good except God.  He cannot earn his way to Heaven.  Yet, because of his wealth, this young man was used to controlling outcomes and could not simply let Jesus be in charge of his salvation.

Proverbs 3:11-20
13“Blessed is the man who finds wisdom.”
